TECHNICAL RIDER & SHOPPING LIST FOR JUNK YARD DOGS (Be prepared to deliver these materials to MrJ upon his ARRIVAL.) that you will be able to point out these SEVEN independent outlets to MrJ.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR JUNK YARD DOGS 1.

Ceiling Height – Junk Yard Dogs has a large set. One primary piece of that set is sixteen (16) feet tall. It will be important that we have clearance for that piece in the room we set up in. Please confirm with MrJ that you do indeed meet this height requirement on stage or immediately next to the stage on the floor.

2.

Quiet Time Books – CLICK HERE to download QT Book Master Take careful note of formatting. DO NOT change page order or numbering without asking MrJ. (He bases much of this teaching on the numbering used in this sample.) CLICK BELOW to download pictures of QT Book assembly. Book Closed Sample Book Open Sample Please arrange to print enough QT Books for all the students AND adults who will be in attendance. Plus add an extra 25% for all books that will be lost. I know it costs you more but printing the extras before your event means you won’t have to run back to the copier for extras on short notice. I have to tell you that at most of our events we run out of QT books. Attendance ends up higher than planned, and children do what children do, they misplace the books. Do your best to insure that when MrJ sends the kids home with a challenge to stay in the QT Book for 21 days that each and every camper and leader actually has a book to take home. It’s a real bummer to see kids headed home on the last night without a Bible or a QT book.

3.

Minimum of SEVEN 20 Amp circuits (140 Amps) available on or near the stage area. MrJ carries a quantity of extra heavy-duty extension cords but there is a limit to how far they can reach. These circuits CANNOT be shared with other equipment or lights of your camp/church. They must be dedicated to the MrJ Band during each MrJ session. Be sure

A hunt for 7 power outlets is the most common cause for delay during our SETUP. Please have someone on site who has done his/her homework and can be CERTAIN as they point out the SEVEN independent circuits. It helps a great deal if they have done this homework before we arrive. They will also need to point us to the electrical breaker box or boxes from which we are drawing power. Call MrJ, Kurt Johnson, with questions: 425-766-9690. 4.

Sound System – Most likely, MrJ will not be using your sound system. The exception might be in the case of LARGE rooms. In those cases he most often connects one (1) balanced send from his board to your board. In these cases, your house sound system will provide support to the MrJ system. You will not need someone to mix the sound for The MrJ Band.

5.

Projection System – Most likely, MrJ WILL BE using your projection system to display his lyrics and teaching slides. The easiest method to do this is to patch MrJ’s laptop into your projectors via VGA. This year The MrJ Band will be using Microsoft PowerPoint. By patching his computer into your system we avoid compatibility issues regarding fonts and animations. We realize that there may be other solutions you can suggest that better fit your systems.

6.

Lights – Most likely, MrJ will not be using your stage lighting system. He will contact you if he needs any lighting gear from you. MrJ will however need to be able to control your house lights. These house lights will need to be turned on and off at strategic times during the MrJ sessions.

7.

A set of keys to the chapel/sanctuary where we will be performing that can be used while the MrJ band during their entire stay.

8.

Extra Bibles that the kids can borrow if they didn’t bring one. Better yet, Bibles that we can give to the children without a Bible at home.

9.

10.

One (1) Tech Person – This person will run PowerPoint for each MrJ session during your event. Pick people cool of mind and hand. Initially, this tech person will need to meet with a MrJ team member for 30 minutes of training and then 15 minutes each day, these training sessions will be one hour before each session. These people MUST be at every MrJ session, NO EXCEPTIONS. It is very disrupting to have to re-train new tech people mid-event.

↓THIS ITEM FOR CAMPS ONLY↓ Pencils – 100 sharpened pencils with erasers (not golf pencils). We bring pencils but you will help replenish what the children of your event will lose. Please sharpen your batch before giving them to us.

↑THIS ITEM FOR CAMPS ONLY↑ 11. 4-6 people to help load in when we arrive and to load out when we leave. See the start time and duration of LOAD IN, SETUP and LOAD OUT on your contract. Some heavy lifting is involved but all members of the team need not be hulks . Please Call MrJ, Kurt Johnson, if you have questions: 425-766-9690 12. Balloons – 50 (7” balloons work the best) If you cannot find 7” inches, go smaller, water balloons work better for our game than do 9” or 12” balloons. A balloon pump is also of great help. 13. Batteries – Thirty-six (36) AA batteries. Two (2) 9-Volt batteries. Please be sure these are high quality alkaline batteries or better, e.g. ProCell, Duracell or Energizer. Costco’s Kirkland batteries are cheaper but do NOT do well in professional audio gear. MrJ will ask you to replace budget batteries with higher quality to avoid damage to gear. 14. 4 Black ‘Sharpie’ permanent markers 15. WATER – Upon arrival of The MrJ Band please be prepared to provide 48 bottles of water for use during your event. 16. At least 20 pounds of candy per 100 children. (Huh? A little math help here  If your event has 200 children coming, then plan on 20 x 2 = 40 lbs.) Individually wrapped pieces, please. NO suckers!!! No Peanuts!!! We throw this candy into the crowd so suckers with stems make for eye-hazards.

NEW Candy Distribution Method We have begun using a new technique for managing the flow of candy to our campers and it has been a big hit with leaders and parents. Here’s where we need your help. a.

Each group leader needs a container, bag or sack to hold their group’s candy.

b.

Every time a child or leader wins some candy, that winner puts it in the group’s bag. If candy is thrown into the crowd and all over the room, the campers gather what they can and put it in the group’s bag. It has eliminated kids stuffing their faces with candy and helped even the timid child win some rewards.

c.

The leader then controls when and where the candy is shared with the entire group for consumption.

d.

So REMEMBER, you will need to arrange for each leader to have some sort of candy collection container, bag or sack.

NOTE: You may have some parents or leaders concerned that we are dumping pounds and pounds of candy on children who do not need it. During your event each child will receive, on average, 3 ounces of candy. (3 oz. over the course of the entire event.) 17. Six (6) Normal Size Kit Kat Candy Bars – We use these for a game in the 2nd session. 18. Toy Prizes – If your budget allows, order a quantity of prizes from Oriental Trading Company. At times, MrJ would use these instead of the candy. (You could even get extra items and décor to help deck out your adult leaders and craft/snack/rec areas.) 19. Action-o-logists – A very exciting option is for the local church or camp to recruit children, youth and adults to become “action-o-logists” with The MrJ Band. These cast members help lead the songs and teach the actions. Here are the criteria for an action-o-logist candidate:  Willingness to go crazy on stage. We need individuals who won’t hesitate to do the funny and silly actions that make MrJ songs contagious.  Must attend ALL sessions during your event.  Must arrive two hours early each day for rehearsal and team devos.  Must provide their own costumes which comply to the MrJ costume guidelines and be approved by The MrJ Band. CLICK the link above to read the guidelines. 20. Decorations – Junk Yard Dogs takes place in an industrial junk yard. Think old, rusty cars, barrels, chain link fence, corrugated tin. If you want to add items to your event site that
