Beijing in Perú • Las cepas de Mycobacterium tuberculosis del clado Beijing fueron descritas en 1995. • Causante de outbreaks con cepas resistentes. • Beijing tiene 2 subfamilias: modernas (China, Rusia) y antiguas (Japón).
• Beijing es común en Perú 5.9% (11/185) - 9.3% (30/323): Perú ha sido el más afectado con la introducción de la familia Beijing y es asociado con el esparcimiento de estas cepas a otros paíss de Sur América y Europa.
Muestras de estudio Mycobacterium tuberculosis con un patrón de Beijing en spoligotyping : 269 aislados. - 70 aislados del 2001-2006 (Lima Sur, Lima Norte y Lima Este) - 198 aislados del 2008-2010 (Callo y Lima Este)

Conclusiones • Se observó un incremento en la incidencia de cepas Beijing en la década pasada. • Alta clonalidad de las cepas Beijing (80% clustering) sugiriendo transmisión activa. Inclusive mayor transmisión que cepas no Beijing (59.4% clustering) • La prevalencia de la clona PCT001 ha aumentado desde 1999 (17%) hasta 2010: Cepa altamente transmisible y virulenta. • Las cepas Beijing provienen de China
