The 1st Asian Dancehall Queen & King Competition (2017) Rules





1) The 1st Asian Dancehall Queen and King competition (2017) is open to any Asian female and male dancer regardless of experience. 2) This competition is open to single competitors. 3) All competitors must provide their music mixes to the organizer at [email protected] by Monday 20th Feb. Your mixes should be as follows: - Round One: 1min 30sec - Round two: 1 minute 4) No walk up entries permitted. All competitors must read and sign the registration, rules and regulation forms confirming that the

participant understands and agrees to the conditions of entry, including liability waiver. Only participants that have returned and signed the form will be eligible to enter the competition. 5) All competitors must provide their own costumes/outfits. Stylish costumes are encouraged. Participants will not be allowed to wear only g-string as a costume. Participants will be disqualified for any form of nudity. Male and female participants should wear tasteful and appropriate costumes. 6) All competitors will act professionally, ethically, and sportsmanlike at all times prior, during and after the competition. 7) All competitors will be judged on the following criteria: - Knowledge and delivery of Dancehall steps and style - Individual style and originality - Entertainment and crowd response - Dance skills and ability - Musicality - Costume/outfit 8) Competitors who are late (after 9pm) or do not answer when announced will not be permitted to compete. 9) Competitors will only be allowed to redo a performance if there has been a technical problem that is out of competitor’s control. (Sound system issues, power failure etc.) 10) If any issues arise, please contact the organizers Dance Apparent or O-Brothaz Sound System, NOT judges. 11) The competition will be held at 9pm on Saturday, February 25th 2017 at Triangle, Taipei (Taiwan). Participants will be responsible for all their travel arrangements and accommodations.

12) All competitors must arrive at the venue at 7:00pm for sound check, induction and to pay their entrance fee of 25USD (800NTD/New Taiwan Dollar). Please report to the stage. First round commences at 9:00pm SHARP. Location: Triangle (Taipei, Taiwan) No.1, Yumen St., Zhongshan Dist., Taipei City | MRT Yuanshan station EXIT 1 (inside Taipei Expo Park / MAJI SQUARE ) Triangle : 圓山捷運站一號出口 台北市玉門街一號 (*海霸王對面/中山北路民族西路口/臺北花博公 園/集食行樂廣場MAJI SQUARE 中段旋轉木馬旁） 13) NO videos will be allowed. Official Photographs and Video footage will be recorded on the day. 14) Dance performances must be of a tasteful nature and must not be associated or depict racist, pornographic, sexist or violent content. Offensive material will result in a disqualification. 15) Winners will receive a trophy and the title of Asian Dancehall Queen/King 2017. Depending on Sponsorship, there may be a cash prize as well. Winners should be available for the next staging of the competition to hand over the crown to the next Asian Dancehall Queen & King 2018. King and Queen’s Crowns must be returned to organizers after photos have been taken with the winners. All other prices belong to winners. 16) The organisers of the competition are not responsible for any injuries or loss of belongings during the event. Please ensure you handle yourself responsibly. If any issues should arrive contact the event organizer directly.

17) All dancers entering this competition shall indemnify Dance Apparent, DanceJA and O-Brothaz Sound System from and against

any claim, action, suit damage, cost, loss, expense or liability of any kind however suffered or incurred in respect of any loss of life, personal injury, loss or damage to property or other loss whatoever arising as a result of any breach of law and any negligent or wrongful act or omission of the dancers ocurring in connection with participation in the Asian Dancehall Queen & King competition. 18) The winner agrees to represent the 2017 Dancehall Queen/King title with respect and honor.
