The Enormous Egg – Chapter 6 Later that day, I saw my friend Joe. “Hey, Joe,” I said. “Guess what hatched out of my egg.” “Was it a duck?”
Joe asked.
“Nope.” I said.
“Was it a turkey?”
Joe asked.
“No, it was a DINOSAUR !!!” I said. “You’re kidding me!” said Joe. “It really is a dinosaur. Come see it” I said. We went to the henhouse
, and I showed Joe, the dinosaur .
“Wow! Is he dangerous?” asked Joe.
“I don’t know” I said. “What will you feed him?” asked Joe.
“I don’t know that, either” I said. Then Joe said “I don’t think that’s a dinosaur. It’s just a big lizard Dr. Ziemer is just tricking you.” Joe went home. I did not think that Dr. Ziemer was tricking me. It really was a dinosaur.
. I think
After dinner, Dr. Ziemer came back. He told me that we needed to feed the dinosaur. “What does he eat?” I asked. “This kind of dinosaur is a Triceratops.” said Dr. Ziemer. “He likes to eat grass
, leaves
“Why does he eat pebbles
, lettuce
,
and pebbles”
.
?” I asked.
Dr. Ziemer said that it was because this kind of dinosaur does not have teeth and the pebbles will help him chew his food.
We gave him a pile of grass. He ate all of it. Then we gave him some leaves. He ate all of that too! Then the baby dinosaur walked over to a sunny spot and lay down. Next, Dr. Ziemer wanted to weigh him.
I picked him up very gently and put him on the scale. He weighed 4 pounds. Next, Dr. Ziemer used a tape measure to see how long he was. The baby dinosaur was 13 inches long.
I asked Dr. Ziemer, “How big will he get?” “He could grow to be more than 20 feet long, and weigh as much as 20 tons!” “How long will it take for him to get that big?” I asked. I was worried we would not have enough food! “We don’t know how fast, because no one has seen a live dinosaur, before.” Said Dr. Ziemer.
