Directions:  Choose three to five assignments to complete to show your understanding of your 3rd​ ​ quarter learning.  Don’t email anything (unless I tell you otherwise for specific assignment).  Attach this rubric, indicating which level  you completed to the front of your work. 

 ​ Complete three activities either horizontally ‐‐‐, vertically |, diagonally/ or \. ​ If you do a straight line or  diagonal, you will earn up to a 2.5, but not higher than a 2.5.  Complete five activities in a plus +​ . If you choose to complete assignments which create a + on the page,  which are quite straight forward, you will earn up to a 2.5 or 3 on the rubric.    Complete five activities in a X. ​ If you choose to complete assignments which create an X across the page  (higher level assignments) you may earn up to a 3.5 or 4 on the rubric.        Create a minimum of 6 squares (per  Act) comic strip that summarizes  each Act. Draw your own comic  board or use an online creation tool  for comic creation.  (RL.7.2) 

      Write at least five diary entries that  Annie Sullivan might’ve written  during her time at the Keller  household. Refer to her letters she  was writing in the play to create  realistic “Annie‐like” diary entries.   (W.7.3) 

Write 5 sentence summary  paragraph of each Act of ​ The Miracle  Worker​ . Remember to include an IVF  introduction statement (Identify the  text, Verb it and Finish the  thought—the theme or moral). Your  summary can be based on events  that impacted the resolution  (ending), the theme, conflicts (man  vs. …), or connections (text‐to‐...).  (RL.7.2)  Create an infographic on a person  who has persevered and overcame a  disability. (Use pictocart.com or  easel.ly) Include bibliography  information on your infographic with  at least one picture of your person.  Include a timeline of their life,  graphics and words that explain  their life history, and info on what  their disability is/was. (W.7.7)  

  Answer the question: Can a person  with disabilities accomplish as much  as a person without disabilities?  Use at least three credible sources  to research that question and create  a bibliography of those sources.  Present your research to your  classmates.   (W.7.7, W.7.8, SL.7.4)    Imagine Annie Sullivan was being  interviewed on television (maybe for  a serious news network like CNN or  for a talk show like ​ Ellen Degeneres  or ​ The Tonight Show​ ).  Write a script  of the interview.  Make sure the  questions and answers stay true to  Annie’s character and to the ideas of  the play.  (W.7.2) 

 

Find two credible nonfiction articles  about a person with a disability.  For  each article, identify the author’s  claim and supporting evidence  (annotate these on the articles).  Then create a graphic organizer to  show how the two authors  emphasize both similar and different  ideas about a famous person with  disabilities.   (RI.7.8, RI.7.9)      Write an extended paragraph to  explain how Annie’s flashbacks  about her brother relate to her work  with Helen.  Use at least three pieces  of evidence (with analysis) from the  text as support.   (RL.7.1, RL.7.5, W.7.2) 

Create a poster (on a piece of 8.5  piece of paper or poster board or  using an electronic tool such as  Glogster) that illustrates (draw a  quote with pictures that relate) a  quote from Helen Keller or the  person you are researching with a  disability. Should include pictures  that symbolize and connect to the  words and quote meaning.   (RL.7.1, W.7.8)
