Outreach Coordinator Internship Overview
The SoHo Broadway Initiative is the organization that represents the business improvement district for SoHo’s Broadway from Houston to Canal. The District includes a diverse mix of national retailers including Bloomingdale’s, Uniqlo, Eastern Mountain Sports, Prada, Billabong and Topshop. The SoHo Broadway Initiative provides sanitation and street cleaning services, seeks to reduce sidewalk congestion, develops capital improvement programs, and is an advocate for the SoHo Broadway community. We are seeking to hire an intern to develop resources for and complete outreach in the SoHo Broadway community. The intern should be able to work 8 to 16 hours per week. The internship will run from approximately September 1st to December 15th. Responsibilities: Intern will be responsible for the following: • •

Research city rules and regulations. Develop outreach materials and resources including best practices for commercial deliveries, garbage collection and historic district signage regulations, vendor regulations and other outreach materials. Develop content for website and newsletter. Collect and analyze sidewalk conditions data use Arc GIS online. Maintain stakeholder database. Attend public meetings.
Qualification Requirements: The ideal candidate for this position is a graduate student pursuing a degree in urban planning, economic/community development, public policy, government relations, historic preservation, or equivalent field. Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Word processing, spreadsheet and database skills are necessary. Compensation $15 per hour up to 16 hours per week.
