The Swedish Bible Study Method In collegiate ministry we are always looking for resources to help students grow in their relationship with God. Simply, the Swedish Bible study is a bible reading method created by a group of Swedish students who desired to read the Bible. Using this method personally or “starting a Bible reading group using this method requires a minimum of resources and preparation, and can be highly rewarding as it leads readers to confront the Scriptures directly.” (resource)
The Swedish Method uses the below outline: If using this method personally, pick a passage of scripture and make your way through the outline. If using this method in a group, follow these guidelines: Each member makes their way through the outline ALONE. Round 1: each person answers the “lightbulb” questions outloud. Round 2: each person shares a question and the group discusses. Anyone can respond to the questions yet the answers need to be found in the passage being studied. Round 3: each person shares how they would apply these passage of scripture to their life. Round 4: each person shares how they will share this passage with others. More guidelines and philosophy behind the Swedish Method can be found: http://matthiasmedia.com/briefing/2009/01/theswedish-method/ http://www.reachingtheunreached.org.uk/resourc es/council-estate-bible-studies/#more-473 To print the Swedish Method outline found here, print it here.
