Seems that he was quite a bit different from the charactar that Denzel Washington played in the movie based on his life for real. It can at times be hard to tell if what Frank states is really true OR if he's making it up as he goes. BUT.. still and enjoyable read. 5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Unreadable! By M. Zylberfuden These guys need a good editor. I was surprised and disappointed with the dreadful writing contained in this apparently self-published book. The grammatical errors and typos are so prevalent that I couldn't stand to even finish it. I assume that this book was rushed to print in order to capitalize on the recent release of American Gangster, as it reads like the 1st draft of a high-school term paper. Yes, it's really that bad, but I hope you don't waste your money to find out for yourself.

While Frank Lucas has always been labeled one of Harlem's most notorious kingpins for decades, few people knew the true story behind who he really was. This was an excellent read and provided a lot of insight...the DVD was even better, I purchased them both. Putting out the truth is always met with resistence, but in the end it's worth it. I look forward to reading more stories like this one from Street Certified Entertainment. See all 22 customer reviews...
