Prefixes and Suffixes To set up, each partner chooses a Christmas light color (red or green) and puts their Christmas light cards together in a pile. Place all the word cards face down in a single pile. To play, partner 1 picks the top card off of the word pile and reads the baseword found on the card. Partner 1 then decides which prefix or suffix on the “Tic-STACK-Toe” board fits with the base-word (there may be more than one option). Player 1 then places one of their light cards under the prefix or suffix spot on the game board. For example, if partner 1 chooses the base word “view” from the word card pile, he/she may place it under the “re” spot (review) or the “pre” spot (preview). Partner 2 then takes a turn. At any point in the game, if either partner picks a base-word card that uses a prefix or suffix already covered on the game board, a player can stack one of their light cards over top the current card to claim the spot. Reshuffle the base-word cards as needed. To win, a partner must get 3 of their light cards vertically, horizontally, or diagonally on the game board.
