Attendance Awareness Campaign Grand Blanc Community Schools is proud to announce our attendance awareness campaign for the 2016-2017 school year. To kick off this campaign, we are excited about partnering with the community to celebrate September as Attendance Awareness Month! All students that attend school on time, every day, for the month of September will be entered into a drawing. Prizes for each winner will be awarded at a school board meeting in October. Research reveals that attendance, at all levels, plays a critical role in student achievement and is a better predictor of graduation rates than test scores. Since chronic absences affect all kids, not just the absent ones, we are asking for your support as we work together to fill every desk, every day! Myers Student Directory

Lunch Price Increase
Distribution Meeting
Lunch and breakfast prices will increase by $.05 for this school year due to regulations of the Healthy and Hunger-Free Act. The benefit of this change is that there is even more onsite and scratch preparation as well as increased offerings of fruits, vegetables and whole grains per the USDA guidelines. The district has already made a significant reduction in sodium, increase in whole grain rich products, and a decrease in fats and sugars over the last few years. We are also purchasing more locally grown products, resulting in even more wholesome and nutritious choices for your children.
This meeting will provide information on the 1:1 initiative, optional insurance, and why we feel this is so important to our students. Meeting schedule is below. Location - East Middle School Last names A-L - 9/13/2016 - 5:30pm Last names M-Z - 9/13/2016 - 7:00pm

♦
No Portable Drop Off: Please make sure you do not drop students off at the portables in the mornings. Students need to enter the building near the office and walk to their classrooms from there.
♦
Money: If you are sending in money for any reason, please put it in an envelope or baggie with the child’s name, the teacher’s name and it’s purpose. Save some of those junk mail return envelopes, they are good to use to send in money to school!
♦
Medication: If your child needs medication during the day, you MUST fill out a form before it can be administered by any school personnel. If it is over the counter, only the parent needs to sign it, if it is a prescription, either a copy of the prescription or medication label needs to be attached or the form needs to be completed by a physician. Forms can be found in the office or on our website.
Beginning Friday, September 23rd, our Refrigerator News will only be printed and put in your Friday Folder if you have returned this form stating that you would like a paper copy. Our newsletter can be found on the main page of the Myers website. If you do not have access to a computer or you would like to get your newsletter in your child’s Friday Folder, please return this slip to the office. No need to send this back if you will be reading the newsletter online. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I would like to receive a paper copy of the Refrigerator News in my child’s Friday Folder.
