JESUS PROMISES ETERNAL LIFE
WEEK B-L5 JOHN 12:20-33
Some Greeks who had come to worship at the Passover Feast came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me. “I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it and will glorify it again.” The crowd there heard it and said it was thunder; but others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come for my sake but for yours. Now is the time of judgment on this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” He said this indicating the kind of death he would die.
1. Understand It! Worship
The feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for God.
Amen
“I believe”
Serves
Perform duties or services for a person.
Servant
One that serves others.
Glorified
To give glory, honor, or high praise to.
2. Explore It! In the Nicene Creed that we pray every Sunday, we say that Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried. It was in this moment where Jesus tells His Disciples that His time had come. It was time for Jesus to die for us! For our sins! Jesus tells us that we are called to follow Him and by following Him, we will come with Him to the Kingdom and have eternal life. For it was out of love that God brought His son to us so that we may be able to love God right back.
4. Live It! [ SERVICE ]
3. Connect It! Jesus said, "unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit." When Jesus died and went up to Heaven, He left us with the Eucharist and the Catholic Church with Peter as our first Pope. We are the fruits of Jesus! And because of that, every single one of us are called to love God and show that love to the world.
5. Remember It!
Service means helping or doing work for someone. Jesus taught us that we all need to come together and help each other with open arms. If you are the one who give the service to another person, do it out of the kindness of your heart and not think about “what am I going to get out of this” kind of motive. If you think like that you are not doing what Jesus want you to do; He wants you to follow Him and serve Him because you want to.
6. Pray It! Dearest Jesus, our Lord and our Savior. We pray that You give us hands like Yours, so that we can serve others like You. We know our hands can only do so little, but please let us serve and live for You. Amen.
