Directions starting at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and South Germantown Road: 1792 New Riverdale Road, home of Lisa Harris and Shawn Wood
• Head west on Poplar Avenue for 0.8 miles • Turn right onto New Riverdale Road • Destination will be on the right in 0.2 miles Description: The love of their location drove this Germantown contractor and homeowner to renovate their home. Travertine floors, interior brick walls and beams in the keeping room and living room have been added. A back hall galley, using older wood and a nine foot door, creates a natural flow for guests to enjoy the great room and backyard.
B 1884 Malabar Drive, home of David and Martyna Trevathan
• Head north on New Riverdale Road for 0.3 miles • Turn right onto Neshoba Road, travel 1.8 miles • Turn right onto Brierbrook Road, travel 0.1 mile • Turn left onto Malabar Drive • Destination will be on the left in 0.2 miles Description: The galley kitchen in this 1970s home has been transformed into a beautiful and functional area for family gatherings. A small breakfast bar was removed and counter tops were extended. Custom cabinets and light travertine floors make the new kitchen open and much more efficient. Cabinets were added in the laundry room to increase storage and an added folding shelf above the washer and dryer doubles as a serving area while entertaining. The cabinet designer will be on site to answer questions. A new fireplace in the den was created out of large rough cut stone and stone mantel. Ask the homeowners what happened when a tree hit the back of their home.
C 9490 South Spring Hollow Lane, home of Eleanor and Robert Horton
• Head south on Malabar Drive for 0.2 miles • Turn left onto Brierbrook, travel 0.2 miles • Turn left onto Farmington Boulevard, travel 1.9 miles • Turn right onto Wolf River Boulevard, travel 1.0 mile • Turn right onto Johnson Road, travel 0.9 miles • Turn left onto South Spring Hollow Lane • Destination will be on the left in 0.2 miles Description: The Horton’s had a large, open patio that was unused. Not needing to expand the area, they wanted to make it more enjoyable for entertaining. The roof was enclosed and columns, an outdoor fireplace and ceiling fans were added. Tying in the existing roof line made the addition a challenge, however the outcome has created a new outdoor room for all-weather entertaining. This DIY homeowner added a handmade outdoor trestle table from plans found on Pinterest.
D 9403 Old Plantation Cove, home of Pankaj and Himali Kumar
• Head west on South Spring Hollow Lane toward Johnson Road for 0.2 miles • Turn left onto Johnson Road, travel 0.7 miles • Turn left onto Old Plantation Cove • Destination will be on the right in 0.1 miles Description: This sprawling 7,700 square foot home was built in 1978. The homeowners had ambitious plans after purchasing the home just over a year ago. Hallways and rooms were rearranged on both the main and second floors to create a more efficient flow. Expansive windows along the back of the home overlook the wooded grounds. Oversized parquet flooring grace the main rooms and high ceilings are found throughout the home. Pre-renovation photos will be available. The homeowners did much of the painting and served as contractors for this project.

• Head west on Old Plantation Cove toward Johnson Road • Turn left onto Johnson Road, travel 0.7 miles • Turn right onto Poplar Avenue, travel 0.3 miles • Turn left onto Forest Hill Irene Road, travel 0.2 miles • Turn right onto Poplar Pike • Destination will be on the left in 2 miles Description: The Wilsons dreamed of purchasing this early 1900s home for years before making it their own in 2004. The home was in disrepair and needed major renovations. While living in a one-room building on the property, they removed the floors, replaced the home’s lead pipes and plastered the walls and ceilings. The original footprint of the home was not changed. Sandy was an art teacher for many years and many of her own paintings are displayed on the walls of the home. This is a wonderful opportunity to see one of Germantown’s oldest homes lovingly restored and updated.
