FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE 1) Although the final outcome of our battle is never in doubt, the warfare is no less real. 2) 12:1 Herod was despised by the Jews, so he persecuted the church in order to win the loyalty of the people. 3) 12:4 Herod wanted a showy public trial of Peter, before the crowds left Jerusalem following Passover. 4) 12:4 Peter was a maximum-security prisoner in a maximumsecurity wing.

14) 12:18-19 If a prisoner escaped, Roman law required that the guard receive the same punishment the prisoner would have received. 15) 12:22-23 Herod did not reject the peoples’ flattery, and God’s judgment was swift. 16) 12:24 Despite furious opposition, once again the Word of God flourished. 5) 12:5 The turning point in the story…”but prayer.” 6) 12:6 Peter had such confidence and peace in the Lord that he was able to sleep deeply. 7) 12:9 Peter was so groggy that he did not grasp the reality of what was happening. 8) Why did James die while Peter was “rescued?” The only answer is God’s greatness, God’s purposes, and God’s sovereign design. 9) 12:14 Rhoda was apparently a member of the church. She had heard Peter’s voice enough times to recognize it in the middle of the night. 10) 12:15 The believers found it easier to believe Peter had died than that their prayers had been answered. God honors even weak faith. 11) 12:17 The noise from the group threatened to do what Peter’s knocking had not: wake the neighbors and get Peter recaptured. 12) 12:17 This is the last we see of Peter in the book of Acts. 13) 12:17 Peter knew Agrippa would be looking for him. He did not want to put the fellow believers in jeopardy.
