The Snowman Slam
Materials White paper cups Black and orange craft foam or construction paper White socks Glue Scissors Instructions Using the black foam or construction paper, cut out 6 circles to make the eyes and mouth 1. To save time, the child can draw the eyes and mouth on the white paper cups Using the orange foam or construction paper, cut out a triangle to make the nose Glue both the black circles and the orange triangles onto the white paper cups to make them look like the snowmen above Roll up 1-2 white socks Have the child stack the cups to make a tower and have him/her throw the socks at the tower to knock it down
Polar Bear Hand Print
Materials Construction paper (blue or assorted colors) White paint or cotton balls Paintbrush Scissors Black marker Instructions Have the child trace his hand on a sheet of construction paper Cut out the outline of the hand Options for coloring the inside of the hand o Paint the palm of the child's hand with white paint and have him press his hand onto the construction paper. This can also be done before the hand outline is cut out. o To avoid getting the child's hand full of paint, have the child paint the inside of the hand white using a paintbrush o To avoid using paint at all, glue cotton balls on the inside of the hand Using the black marker, have the child draw toenails on the four fingers and have him draw ears, eyes, a mouth, and a nose on the thumb to make the polar bear's face.
Name Snowman
Materials White paper (regular or cardstock) Construction paper (assorted colors) Small buttons (if available, if not small pom-poms or round stickers) Markers Glue Scissors Instructions Cut out circles, as big or small as the child wants. There should be one circle for each letter in the child's name and an extra circle for the snowman's head. Have the child write his or her name, with one letter on each circle as shown above Glue the circles to a sheet of construction paper on a straight line and glue the plain circle to the top Have the child draw a face on the plain circle using different colored markers The child may use a button, pom-pom, or sticker for the snowman's nose Cut out a hat for the snowman and glue it to the top circle. The child can decorate the hat as he/she pleases
Paper Heart Penguin
Materials Construction paper or cardstock (white, orange, and black) Wiggly eyes (if available, or markers) Scissors Glue Instructions Make an outline of an oval on the black paper, a big heart on the white paper, and three small hearts on the orange paper, as shown above. Cut out the pieces Glue the white heart on the black oval Glue one small orange heart on the center of the white heart Glue the other two small orange hearts below the white heart Finally, glue the wiggly eyes above the curves of the orange heart in the center of the figure or draw eyes with markers.

Groundhog Day Puppets
Materials Brown paper bag Construction paper (brown and white) Black marker Glue Scissors Instructions Draw the head of the groundhog on a brown piece of construction paper (you can draw a bug heart and turn it upside down. Draw two small hands as shown above, an oval for the tail, and two small ovals for the ears on the brown construction paper Cut out all the pieces Using the white paper, cut out a small square Draw a line in the middle of the white square to outline the groundhog's teeth Lay a brown paper bag on a flat surface Glue all the pieces to the brown paper bag as shown above Using the black marker, have the child draw a big circle on the groundhog's head for the nose, whiskers, and eyes.
Valentine's Day Caterpillar (Option 1)
Materials Construction paper (pink and red if available) White sheet of paper Wiggly eyes (if available) Black marker Glue Scissors Instructions First, start by drawing hearts on pink and red construction paper (the child can draw as many hearts as he/she wants. Also, draw one big heart for the head and two little hearts for the antlers o The hearts can be the same size or different sizes, just make sure that there is a heart bigger than the rest for the head. Cut out the hearts Glue the hearts on a straight horizontal line to a white sheet of paper as shown above. Make sure the biggest heart is in the front of the line. Next, glue the wiggly eyes to the big heart at the front of the line. If wiggly eyes are not available, have the child draw eyes on the caterpillar. Using the black marker, have the child draw the feet and antlers Finally, glue the two little hearts on the antlers
Bee Mine on Valentine's Day (Option 2)!
Materials Construction paper (yellow, black, and pink, if available) One pipe cleaners (black, if available) Glue Scissors Instructions Draw and cut an oval and two hearts on a yellow piece of construction paper and cut out the pieces. Cut out three long, skinny rectangles from the black construction paper and two small ovals/circles for the eyes (the child may draw the lines and eyes on the body of the bee with a marker instead of cutting to save time) Draw and cut out a small pink circle (optional) Glue the two yellow hearts to the back of the bee's body, as shown above. Glue the rectangular pieces of black paper to the bee's body, as well as the eyes. Have the child draw the bee's mouth/smile Finally, take one pipe cleaner and cut it in half (you can even cut half of half of a pipe cleaner). Curl the top of the pipe cleaners to make them look like antlers and glue or tape them to the back of the bee's head as shown above; make ~3/4 of the antlers stick out from behind.
President's Day Paper Plate Masks
Materials Paper plate Construction paper Cotton balls for the George Washington mask Black tinsel (if available, if not black marker will work) for the Abraham Lincoln mask Large popsicle stick Glue Scissors Instructions Begin by cutting out the center of the paper plate to make an open space for the child's face Using construction paper, draw and cut out a hat Glue the hat to the top of the paper plate To make the George Washington mask o Grab the cotton balls and glue them below the GW's hat to make the hair To make the Abraham Lincoln mask o Grab the black tinsel and glue it to the bottom half of the paper plate for Abe Lincoln's beard o If tinsel is not available, the child may draw the beard with black marker Finally, glue the popsicle stick behind the bottom back of the paper plate so the child can hold the mask

April Showers
Materials White copy paper Strings of blue, rolls of crate paper Cotton balls Hole puncher String or ribbon Glue Scissors Instructions My idea for this project was to do April showers, so it would be nice for all the paper mache to be blue to make it look like rain. However, you are welcome to make a rainbow craft instead. Start by drawing and cutting out a cloud from the white copy paper o To make it look like a rain cloud, the child can use gray paper Using the roll of crate paper, cut strips that are 8-10 inches long o You can make the strips as narrow or as wide as the child desires Collect the paper mache strips and glue them to the back of the cloud, as shown above Glue the cotton balls to the white cloud
Hole punch the top of the cloud and insert a string through the hole Tie the edges of the string to hang the cloud
Fun Rocks
Materials Rocks from the woods! Paint Paintbrushes Instructions Have the child gather a couple of rocks from the woods Using the paintbrushes, have the child paint the rocks with any design they want. It can be the child's name, a word, a shape, or a drawing **For speech: the child can paint the sound/letter they have difficulty producing. They could also make a vowel and an additional letter to make a segmentation activity.

Memorial Day Craft
Materials White sheet of paper (preferably cardstock) Paint (blue, red, and white) Three clothes pins Pom-poms Scissors Instructions Draw and cut out a rectangle on a white piece of cardstock Put a little bit of each paint on a different sheet of paper Have the child grab a pom-pom with a clothes pin and dip it into the blue paint The child should make the blue part of the flag on the top left corner of the white rectangle, as shown above Next, dip a clean pom-pom into the red paint and make the red lines on the flag Finally, and hopefully by now the paint has dried a little, have the child dip a clean pompom into the white paint and make dots on the blue paint to resemble the stars

Materials Paper plates (small or regular size) Paper mache or construction paper (assorted colors) Ribbon or string Glue Scissors Stapler Instructions Start by drawing circles on different colored paper mache or construction paper Cut out the circles Next, glue all the circles all over the paper plate Draw and cut a rectangle from the construction paper; glue it to the back of the paper plate with half of it peeking out (black square of the picture above) Finally, staple two ends of a ribbon or string onto the rectangle to finish the hanging ornament.

Materials Brown and red construction paper Wiggly eyes Two popsicle sticks Black marker Scissors Glue, tape, or a stapler Instructions Start by cutting a brown piece of construction paper in half and glue/tape/staple the two pieces together to fit the child's head Next, trace the child's hands onto a brown construction paper and cut them out Glue the hands onto one popsicle stick each and tape to the inside of the head piece Glue the wiggly eyes onto the front of the head piece Draw a circle on the red construction paper and cut it out to make the nose Finally, draw a smile on the reindeer with the black marker
