Junior Tubing Trip Friday, February 10th, 2017 Dear Parent(s), Guardians, On Friday, Feb. 10th, 2017, the Grades 4, 5 and 6 students will be embarking on a trip to Edelweiss Ski Resort. This trip will take place for the duration of the school day. Our departure will be at approximately 8:45 a.m. from school to Edelweiss. We will leave Edelweiss at approximately 1:30 p.m. to return to school for 3:00 p.m. dismissal. The cost of this trip will be $18.00 to cover the cost of admission to the resort. Fortunately this year, we were able to get a grant to cover the cost of busing. Students are required to pack their own lunches, a good supply of water, and snacks as everything is very expensive at the canteen. Should students wish to purchase an extra item from the canteen, they may bring a few dollars to spend. We will have teacher supervision inside the chalet for nutrition breaks. Tubing is considered to be a high risk activity. Students are required to wear a ski helmet. The school will provide helmets, if your child does not have one. We will also be following the OPHEA guidelines on tubing. Please ensure that students are dressed appropriately for tubing. The temperature does decrease on the hills. Snow pants, ski jackets, hats, scarves, mittens and an extra pair of socks are required as well as warm boots. Please note that this trip will take place only if driving conditions or weather conditions are adequate. We cannot guarantee an alternate date due to busing schedules. We are looking for parent volunteers to assist us with supervision on this trip. Parents who would like to go tubing themselves will need to pay their own admission fee (approximately $18). Parent volunteers are welcome to ride the bus or if they prefer can drive to the resort. Any questions or concerns please contact the school. Kindly return the attached form to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday, January 27th, 2017. Sincerely, Grades 4, 5 and 6 Staff
