UACS Inc. is a charity that provides culturally-enriching services, programs and support that enhances the lives of families and individuals throughout the Region of Peel’s Black and Caribbean communities for over two decades. UACS Inc. seeks to improve the overall well-being and health of our clients and the community by making a difference to improve the quality of people’s lives, by working for social and other changes in our communities.

Youth and Cultural Arts Program The program is designed for youths who are passionate, creative and talented; and interested in creating a community where they are valued, respected and have opportunity to thrive and contribute in meaningful ways. Youths will have opportunities to contribute to diverse programming through partnerships that enhance their personal, professional and creative development to enhance their success through sharing of ideas, talents and suggestions. Building Healthy Families Program Building Healthy Families program offers advocacy and support for families to gain new skills, such as communication skills, and conflict resolution through parenting/co-parenting education and skills development workshops, mediation, and counseling services. The services offered are confidential from a compassionate and caring perspective that incorporates a strength-based approach. Our counsellors are collaborative, respectful and non-judgemental. Bringing an unbiased and open understanding to the challenges and concerns that engenders well-being and create a healthier outcomes for our clients.

The program is an arts-based lifestyle programs that incorporates festivals that are designed for youths between the ages of 16-24 years to espouse, highlight and celebrate their talents, creativity, passion and expression through theatre, music, spoken word, poetry, visual arts and dance.

UACS After School Program

This program is designed to promote youth achievement through peer-helping-peer homework assistance, social success, and encouraging responsibility and group participation.

UACS-Sisserou Youth Steel Band Orchestra

The UACS-Sisserou Youth Steel Band Orchestra offers steel pan lessons for youth between the ages of 6-19 and provides lessons and techniques on this cultural art form through creative and developmental activities for participants.

The UACS Dancing Angels

This program provides an outlet for participants to learn dance techniques that empowers and fosters creative expressions through cultural and contemporary art forms. This program is designed for children between the ages of 6 and 14 years old.

Spelling Bee Competition

The program is designed to contribute to the development of our youth’s self-esteem by creating pride in academic achievement and help to build a solid foundation for their future success through educational and careers development. The program designed assistance, social success, encouraging responsibility and group participation.

Healthy, Active and Wise Seniors Program Our program and services for seniors act as a hub for building a sense of pride through maintaining and improving health, wellness, quality of life, support , personal independence and encourage involvement in community life. Seniors engage in leisure and recreational activities that espouse and engender fellowship, fun, relaxation and education.

Summer Day Camp

The program is designed to encourage youth to develop their personal skills, build self-confidence through recreational and leisure activities that are enhance their well-being through interaction, awareness, teamwork and respect for self and others.

OUR PHILOSOPHY The philosophy of UACS Inc is to provide prompt, competent care and culturally-appropriate services to individuals, families and groups in our communities to address current needs and understand emerging ones. We recognize that barriers to becoming integrated into Canadian life are revealed through socialization, economics and demographics. Our aim is to assist our clients by providing pathways to achieve their full potential and contribute to improving their health, well-being and quality of life, in addition to being a self-reliant citizens that fosters the strengthening of community.

Fresh Start for Women Program A prevention program with one-on-one supportive counseling, advocacy, accompaniment, telephone crisis intervention, support groups, transitional housing, information and referrals, support group meetings, court accompaniment (e.g. shelter, court and social services). We are committed to educating and supporting women who have experienced domestic (violence by family members and/or intimate partners) and sexual violence (by family members and or non-family members). All services are safe, confidential, and free.
