UNITED KINGDOM Summer 2017 MBA, Trendspotting for Culture and Design

Students will experience and discuss street culture, compare and contrast the presentation and dissemination of culture through establishmentarian institutions and popular forms, read and assess relevant texts and artifacts, and engage in a qualitative research project designed to identify and forecast emergent design trends by observing and interacting with local individuals and culture. Sample excursions include: meeting with Mintel executive to learn about trendspotting in an international consulting company; a private lecture and tour of the Victoria and Albert Museum (the world’s premiere interior design museum) focusing on the history of the movement of trends from street to catwalk; a tour of the Barbican to learn about the relationship between the arts, community planning, and business/domestic architecture in the 1980s and the present; and a host of others.

$3150 Cost includes: non-refundable application charge, tuition and fees, shared accommodations, in-country excursions and some meals.
This course may count as a marketing concentration or as an elective.
Airfare and personal expenses are not included.
