Teachers and students will integrate interactive technology into their day to day learning activities. Teachers and staff will be able to use 21st century technology. All teachers will have experience using interactive technology. Interactive technologies such as interactive boards and interactive flat screens will be installed in remaining middle and high school classrooms. Students will reach age appropriate Technology literacy levels by the end of the eighth grade. Specific student technology competency goals as required by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards for students, will be embedded in the curriculum. - by utilizing Learning.com technology curriculum K-8 and professional development with strategic partnerships with trainers. Implement Instructional Technology Teacher Leader Team made up of teacher leaders from each school. Team will develop and deliver targeted instructional technology professional learning within the school setting using 21st century technology available in their classrooms. Representative stakeholders from each school, department, as well as parents and students will be invited to participate in an Instructional Technology Visioning Day to develop a plan for targeted Instructional Technology professional development to take place over the coming academic year. Students will utilize global electronic mail, telecommunications systems, and real-time web based applications, through unique user IDs, in order to effectively communicate with administrators, teachers, parents, and fellow students. Students in select classrooms with Parental Permission will be assigned student email addresses. All Internet use by students and teachers will be in accordance with the Valdosta City Schools Acceptable Use Policy. (AUP). Maintain a system wide WiFi network with public access capabilities. Conduct pilot studies on various devices. Maintain E-book system-wide Media Center using and Destiny. Bandwidth to schools will be increased and the system will maintain and improve a wide area network (WAN) linking all campus LANS and system offices. All desktops, Dell model 760, will be replaced with modern computers. Personal technologies such as laptops, Chromebooks, tablets will be made available to all classrooms.
