VIRTUAL HIGH SCHOOL COURSES AT CCHS 201819 Virtual High School is a nationally recognized online program offered by many high schools and recognized by all colleges. VHS provides the opportunity to take courses not offered at CCHS or courses that cannot be scheduled. Some of these are full year courses, and some are semester courses. For a description of courses, please go to the following website : http://vhslearning.org/ HOW AND WHEN DO I REGISTER? ● Please check with your guidance counselor about VHS courses to ensure that you are fulfilling your CCHS graduation requirements. Your guidance counselor must approve any class you plan to take and contact Ms. Little, the VHS site coordinator. ● After doing so, request the class or classes by completing this Google Form for each class: https://goo.gl/forms/6cUWbjefZNp3mxBB2 ● Fall and Full Year classes commence in early Sept. 2018. Spring classes commence in late January 2019. COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT VIRTUAL HIGH SCHOOL ● Will I get credit and will grades count in my GPA? Yes. Full year courses are worth 5 credits; semester courses are worth 2.5. Final grades go on the transcript. Grades are not included in the GPA. ● Are there different levels of courses? Yes. Courses range from Advanced Placement to enrichment. Please look at the course catalog for details. http://vhslearning.org/ ● Where do I take the class? All work is done on the computer, either at home or in school during a free block. Students work independently since there is no meeting time. ● What happens if I need to withdraw from the class? You will need to complete a drop/add form with your guidance counselor. If you withdraw from a class after CCHS’s drop period, you will receive a WP or WF. ● What else do I need to know? Students need to become comfortable with the VHS site and the course requirements. It is highly recommended that students complete the VHS online student orientation prior to starting any class.
