Using the Razor HD 30x R/T Eyepiece with MRAD Ranging Reticle

This mrad-based Razor HD reticle can be used to estimate distances (see back) as well as to call shots and provide rapid mrad corrections for stray shots. It will be be most useful when used in conjunction with mrad-based riflescopes.

Reticle Focus

The reticle also supplies quick-ranging brackets based on target objects spanning either 9 or 18 inches. For example, 18 inches would span the back-to-brisket dimension on a typical whitetail deer. To use, simply match the closest bracket in size to the object known to span 9 or 18 inches and read the matching yardage in meters (1 meter = 1.1 yards).

Use the reticle focus to adjust the reticle image sharpness. To fine tune the reticle orientation in uneven tripod conditions, rotate the scope using the Razor HD’s tripod collar adjustment.

Ranging with the MRAD Reticle

Mrad measurements are very effective for ranging using simple formulas—knowing the size of the target or nearby object is essential. Target Size in Yards x 1000 =

Be sure reticle is in focus before ranging. Using either the vertical or horizontal mrad scale, place the reticle on the object of known dimension and read the number of mrads spanned. Obtain maximum accuracy in ranging by calculating exact mrad measurements. Estimate mrad measurement in 1/10s if possible.

Accurate measuring will depend on a very steady hold—be sure to use a high quality tripod. Once you have an accurate mrad reading, use the formula to calculate the distance.

Example: Ranging a 6-foot target (2 yards) at 4 mrads yields 500 yards. 2 x 1000 4 mrads

= 500 Yards
