ABOUT SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY

HOW TO REACH US?

Established in the year 1967, Sambalpur University is situated at Jyoti Vihar, Burla which is about 15 kms from Sambalpur town and is known as the educational paradise of western Odisha. Burla has a State University, a Technical University, a Medical University and the head quarter of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. The famous Hirakud Dam with its large reservoir is only 5 kms from the campus. The University Spreads over 670 acres of land and is surrounded by hills and has a serene green campus. There are wild life sanctuaries, reservoirs and beautiful picnic spots in the vicinity of Hirakud Dam. Sambalpur is also internationally famous for its textiles.

Sambalpur University is situated at Burla, which is around 15 km from Sambalpur town in western Odisha. Sambalpur is around 300 km from nearest airport Bhubaneswar by bus or train. The nearest railway junction Jharsuguda is on the main Howrah – Mumbai train line and is around 50 km from Sambalpur. Sambalpur Railway station is 15 kms from Campus. GUIDANCE MAP

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Mathematical modeling of water pollution in lakes, reservoirs, rivers and other water bodies has involved many deep areas of Mathematics, Statistics and Computing. It requires thorough understanding of pollution which is a core area of Environmental Science. Recently IT Research Academy (ITRA) of Dept. of Electronics, Govt. of India has identified “WATER” as a major area of IT application and has funded many projects for it. This workshop is an effort to create a platform for the Faculty members from National Educational Institutes, Research Scholars, Industry People, Government Organizations to understand modeling of water pollution in a comprehensive way.
