Principal’s Report

Welcome to our new families joining our school this week: Montana, Isabelle, Riley and Cooper we are delighted to have you choose our school. Our Parent /teacher interviews were very well attended this week. We’ve had some great feedback about our new times catering for parents that can’t make interviews before 5.30pm. If you have not met with your child’s teacher, then you will receive a call to try and arrange a meeting. Attending interviews is a great way to meet to find out what is happening in the classroom, what your child will be learning and also giving our teachers of an understanding of each child’s strengths. It also shows your child that you value learning and have high expectations that they will work hard and do well at school. New School update Yesterday I met with our school architects for the opening of tender applications. Very soon we will be able to announce who is the successful tender and our starting date for the new school. After School Care YMCA after school care is offering a great deal to try our After School Care program at Epsom. All you need to do is jump onto the YMCA website go to the Epsom link and register. Your child/children will then be able to have a weeks free trial. Go to: https://ymcaepsomasc.hubworks.com.au/ School Subject Levy Rather than have families buying separate school packs with booklists, at Epsom we buy in bulk and then parents pay a subject levy. This is a compulsory charge. It pays for all books, pens, pencils etc for the year. This payment is now due. If you need to have a payment plan, please see me asap. Please make payment before the end of Term 1 at the Office Camps, Sports & Excursion Fund (CSEF) If you applied for this payment, it is an annual payment to school to be used towards camps, sports and/or excursion expenses for the benefit of the eligible student. To be eligible the parent or legal guardian must hold a Veterans Affair Gold card, a Centrelink HCC or Pensioner Concession card.

HATS—LOST AND FOUND Can all parents please check the names on their children’s hats. It is very easy to pick up a hat that doesn’t belong.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN If your child is having a lunch order, please write your CHECKS SUBWWAY LUNCHES—FRIDAYS

child’s name, grade and order items on the form and forward the correct money in a named & sealed envelope. Your child then needs to place his/her lunch order in the slot at the general office before 9am on a FRIDAY MORNING. Subway lunch order forms are available from the Office.

School Council have ratified that all school volunteers are required to have a current Working With Children’s Check. Application forms can be obtained online. A parent register will be maintained at the office so please let us know when you have submitted your application. Please ensure this is finalised prior to the end of Term 1. We look forward to your cooperation with this as it is a measure to ensure the health and safety of all students.

HATS AND UNIFORMS Hats and uniforms are available from Uniform Plus, 56 Williamson Street, Bendigo 3550.

Hello Epsom Community, Some of our science units are about to begin again for the year. We are still after a few items to complete our science kits so they can hit the classrooms ready for the science learning. If you have any of these items hanging around that you're happy to donate, please send them along with your child. Ms Fitz will collect them.  Tennis balls Balloons Table tennis balls  Corks Marbles  Model clay, plasticine, play dough  Large foil trays Thank you to the families who have already donated!

SUPPLIES TO BE PROVIDED BY PARENTS

The school supplies most materials that your child will need. The only things parents are asked to supply are:  Smock or old shirt for Art and Craft.  Large box of tissues. Please send to your child’s class teacher.  School bag large enough to hold a lunch box, reader cover and general belongings.  Library book bag for Grades 1-6. Please ensure you name clothing, bags, drinking containers, lunch boxes and other personal items. Small children often fail to recognise their belongings.

GRADE 6 SHIRTS Order forms have gone home with Grade 6’ers for their shirts. A reminder it is not compulsory for Grade 6 students to order a shirt. Orders need to be returned by next Friday in the hope that we can get the shirts at the start of Term 2. There are some sample sizes in the Office. Please return orders to the Office asap. Some of schools have participated in the HV roadshows currently or in the past and would love any child interested in playing to come and join the sport.

The Bendigo Mountain Bike Club feel that their aims and objectives for this event, and as a club, have many synergies with the DET Health and Physical Education objectives as outlined in the new Victorian Curriculum. There are a range of strategies the club has pursued to make the GTE a welcoming event with broad appeal across the community and to the school community in particular:  A specific entry code for Schools offering a $10 discount on entry.  A prize to go to the school with the most participants (*details below)  A wide range of race distances (15km, 30km, 50km, 100km, 100miles)  More than 50 event entry classes including: - Junior classes/Novice Classes - Mother/Child & Father/Child classes - Age groupings all the way up to 70+yrs (Ultra Masters)  The club is one of only a handful of clubs across Australia to run the accredited junior development program - The ‘2 Wheel Academy’- and dedicated women’s events. *The club would offer a 3hr skills coaching session to the winning school run by our accredited coaches who also have current working with children checks. www.entryzone.com.au will

provide online entry details to the club’s events.
