1. PARENTS SHOULD _____________________ RESPECT And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

“Parents are expected to teach and model respect for those in society, in the church and in the home.” 1. I am to honor the government Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. 1 Peter 2:17 (cf. Romans 13:7)

2. I am to honor my employer

Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 1 Timothy 6:1

3. I am to honor church leaders Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 1 Timothy 5:17

4. I am to honor other Christians Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Romans 12:10

5. I am to honor my wife Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. 1 Peter 3:7

6. I am to honor my husband

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Eph 5:33

7. I am to honor my marriage vows Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Hebrews 13:4

2. _______________________ SHOULD SHOW RESPECT - Because we all are under the authority of Scripture For I was my father’s son, …He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. Proverbs 4:3-4 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

- Because your parents are trying to prepare you Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? Hebrews 12:9

“A child’s view of their heavenly Father is many times determined by their view of their earthly father.“ - Because obedience is expected in all aspects of life 1. It is the right thing to do

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Eph 6:1

2. It pleases God Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Colossians 3:20

3. You’ll live longer That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. Eph 6:3

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11

- Reward your children meaningfully …the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11
