Weekly Incident Summary September 11-17, 2017 HALTON HILLS, ON – Monday, September 11, 2017 10:50 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a person trapped in an elevator on Guelph St. Prior to arrival fire staff were advised that the persons were removed from the elevator. The elevator was taken out of service until repairs by the technician could be made. 11:10 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Trafalgar Rd, north of 5 Sideroad. Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival and advised fire was not required. 20:20 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of fourth Line and 17 Sideroad. Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival and advised fire was not required. 20:40 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an unknown odour investigation on Guelph St. On scene fire staff checked around the building, the buildings gas meter and propane storage with detectors with no readings found and no odour detected. 21:27 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of smoke in the area on Park Ave. On scene fire staff detected a strong smell of smoke and haze in the area. Crews checked the surrounding buildings, homes and forest with nothing found and no fire visible. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 09:39 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Steeles Avenue. While enroute fire staff were advised this was a false alarm. On scene fire staff met with building personnel and confirmed the false alarm. 10:33 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an unknown odour investigation on Hillside Drive. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. 13:58 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Guelph St & McFarlane Dr. On scene fire staff assisted Halton Regional Paramedics with assessing and packaging the patient into the ambulance. Fire staff disconnected the power to the vehicle and used absorbant for leaking fluids 19:20 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Regional Road 25. On scene fire staff met with the homeowner who was burning clean wood in a barrel, but was unaware of the burn permit requirements. The fire was extinguished and the burn permit process was explained for any future burns.

Wednesday, September 13, 2017 11:43 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Maple Ave. Halton Regional Paramedics were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff assisted with packaging and carrying the patient through the industrial construction site to the ambulance. 13:10 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Regional Road 25 and 17 Sideroad. Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff stabilized the vehicles and provided traffic control. Fire staff assisted Halton Regional Paramedics with patient care. 15:52 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Main St S. Halton Regional Police and Halton Regional Paramedics were on scene upon arrival. Fire was not required. Thursday, September 14, 2017 10:35 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Guelph St. On scene fire staff met with building personnel and entered the building and could not find a reason for alarm to have activated. The alarm was silenced and building personnel were advised to have the system repaired. 18:08 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of James & Main St. Halton Regional Paramedics were on scene upon arrival and advised fire was not required. 20:58 Hours - Fire fighters responded to the report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Sixth Line. Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival and advised fire was not required. Friday, September 15, 2017 10:53 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Campbell Court in Acton. On scene fire staff met with the homeowner who did not have a valid burn permit. The fire was extinguished and the homeowner was advised to obtain a burn permit for any future burns. 14:50 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Willoughby Way. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. Fire staff replaced the battery in the detector and advised the homeowner to replace the detector if it sounded again. 19:39 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Craig Cres. On scene fire staff met with the homeowner who was trying to replace the batteries in their smoke detectors and set them off. Fire staff investigated and replaced the Carbon monoxide (CO) detector. Saturday, September 16, 2017 21:55 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Halton Hills Drive. Halton Regional Police and Halton Regional Paramedics were on scene upon arrival and advised fire was not required.

Sunday, September 17, 2017 00:42 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint in the area of Churchill Rd S & Orville Rd. A search of the area turned up nothing. No odour was present nor was there any sign of fire. 12:25 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Moultrey Cres. On scene fire staff met with the homeowner who did not have a valid burn permit. The fire was extinguished and the homeowner was advised to obtain a burn permit for any future burns.
