Message from Organizing Secretary Dear Sir/Madam, On behalf of The Odisha Society of United kingdom (OSUK), we welcome you to the 37th OSUK Annual Convention in London on 27th & 28th of August 2016. As we embark on this ambitious journey of embellishing the annual convention by inviting Odias across the globe to promote our culture, language and develop greater networking between Odias. We also recognize that this daunting task can be achievable through individual and collective ownership, shared responsibility, and collaborative strategies. Roding Valley, Loughton, London, the location selected for hosting this event will offer you the flavors of country side as well as the capital city due to its proximity to London and the activities within the venue like the resonating sound of the Odissi music and dance, enthralling experience of Drama, comedy, Bollywood songs & dances, will be deeply embedded in your memories for times to come. As we prepare ourselves for a two day long convention (27th & 28th August), we invite you to take ownership of this event, collaborate and contribute in any which way you would like to. Sabyasachi Mishra Sabyasachi Mishra is an Indian film actor known for his work in Oriya cinema. He has e earned an Odisha State Film Awards for Best Actor and also won the Filmfare Awards East 2013 in Best Oriya Actor (Male) category. He was the brand ambassador for IPL team Deccan Chargers.

Attractions Archita Sahu Archita Sahu is an Indian actress and model. She is famous for her career as an actor in various Ollywood movies. Besides movies, she has recently achieved great success as a model. She was the 1st runner up in Pond's Femina Miss India Kolkata 2013 and won Lakme Absolute Femina Miss Eyeconic eyes. She also won Miss Talented and Miss Stylish Hair titles in the finale. Suresh Haibru Suresh Haibru is a noted social worker and a tribal leader of Kalinganagar and has been awarded the best social worker of the year 2013 in Odisha. He is also an Odia film producer and an actor. Note: Please note that the organising team have invited these artists and guests and they have sent their consent to attend but their attendance is subject to Visa approvals..

Attractions Purba Dhara Anaya presents a stream of dance, music and rhymes of Odisha with collaboration with Ramhari Das Odissi Gurukul Trust . The group will be performing on Odissi dances, playing a number of musical instruments to accompany the classical dance and will be performing several folk and tribal dances. Dance-o-Phrenics - a Bollywood Dance Groups Medley dance performances will be performed by professional Bollywood dancers wearing beautiful costumes and this performance will include medley of popular Bollywood songs which everyone will recognise, which are fast-paced, energetic and really good fun to watch. It also includes a workshop where they can get all guests dancing to the beats of Bollywood.

We would also encourage you to be a OSUK member by paying £5 extra to get the benefits like voting rights, participate and raise your suggestions, concerns in AGM meetings and you will continuously hear from OSUK about various updates about ODIA events & communities globally. So please sign up for the membership if you are still not a member of OSUK.You don't need to be a OSUK member in order to participate in the OSUK convention. Cultural Participation We would like to invite you to participate in the cultural programs for the 37th Annual OSUK convention 2016 at London. We would also like to inform you that there will be some professional dance groups, who will be performing on various Bollywood and Odia songs on stage but there are some slots available for Individual or in a group to perform at stage on that evening and if you or your children are one of those talented individual / group and interested to give your best performance in front vast audiences please contact the OSUK cultural team. The OSUK cultural team consists of Mr Sumant Mansingh (07872327217), Dr Sanjukta Brahma (07427107799) and Mr Biswajit Pradhan (07766363062) to do the initial screening and finalize the programme lists to make it an enthralling experience. OSUK Journal We invite and encourage you to send us an article for the Journal – “Indradhanu” of the OSUK 2016 which will be published during 37th OSUK Convention in London, UK. Articles can be brief or extensive, elementary or technical whatever interests you in connection with the Odia Society. The Editorial Board would appreciate the Articles depicting the centuries-old navigation tradition and Kalinga Bali Yatra of ODISHA. The OSUK editorial team consists of Journal Secretary Dr Anjana Satapathy, with a skilled team to do formatting, layout, editing, and proofreading. Guidelines and templates are available with the editorial team. Articles should be submitted by 30th June 2016 for possible inclusion in the OSUK Journal.
