What is Future Einstein’s Summer Enrichment 2016? It’s an enrichment program for academically/intellectually gifted, creative, and/or highly motivated students in grades K-8. This year, Summer Enrichment will be held the week of June 14–17,2016 at Patton High School, Morganton, NC.

WELCOME TO SUMMER ENRICHMENT 2016! Summer Enrichment is a special learning and enrichment program sponsored by Burke County Public Schools Office for Gifted Education. Summer Enrichment provides an exciting opportunity for students in our area to participate in courses that will spark their creative and inquiring spirits. Summer Enrichment is a unique enrichment program for highly motivated; academically achieving students from Kindergarten through grade eight. In order to participate, parents must complete the enclosed application, and verification of academically/intellectually gifted status, and/or outstanding academic achievement or potential must be secured. All classes are held on the campus of Patton High School, Morganton, N. C. For students in Kindergarten through second grade, the first class begins at 9:00 and ends at 9:50; the second class is from 10:00-10:50. Snacks will be served between 10:50 & 11:10. The last class is from 11:10-12:00. For third grade through eighth grade, classes will be 90-minutes in length, beginning at 9:00 and ending at 10:30. The second class begins at 10:45 and ends at 12:15. There will be a 30 minute lunch break from 12:15-12:45 for third through rising eighth grade if the students are taking morning and afternoon classes. All students must provide their own lunch. The third class begins at 12:45 and ends at 2:15. The fourth class begins at 2:30 and ends at 4:00. Kindergarten through second grade students may sign up for three 50-minute classes at the cost of $24.00 per class, and third through eighth grade may sign up for four 90minute classes at the cost of $36.00 per class. Each course is specifically designed to offer high interest, “hands-on” opportunities for horizontal enrichment (a chance to explore new ideas, to broaden perspectives, and to actually participate in the learning process). To apply for admission, parents should do the following: 1- Complete the Application Form for their child. 2- Have the Application Form signed by the teacher or principal. 3- Enclose the Application Form, a tuition check, and a BUSINESS-SIZE, SELF-ADDRESSED, STAMPED ENVELOPE (SASE), and return all items by June 2, 2016 to the address shown in “Selection Instructions.” Your SASE will be used to confirm your child’s admittance, the classes for which he or she has been registered, and to notify you of the classroom(s) in which the classes will be held.
