Hosted in the comfortable yet elegant surroundings of 1500 OCEAN, Chef de Cuisine Meredith Maneé has designed a menu that captures the heart of Southern California cuisine. Both she and Cakebread Winery’s Brand Manager David Griffiths will be on hand, bringing a truly personal touch to the evening.
Chef Meredith came to the Del Coronado last year, bringing a wealth of experience in the kitchens of several Four Seasons Properties including Beverly Hills, Houston, Denver. Hawaii, and Newport Beach. Her approach to food is simply fresh, clean, and balanced with an emphasis on local ingredients, especially seafood, with a few creative, ethnic twists. Don’t be surprised if you also notice the influences of her father’s Italian heritage peek through! The name Cakebread Cellars is a familiar one to fans of quality California wine. Founded in 1973 by Jack and Delores Cakebread, this family run enterprise is now mainly in the hands of sons Denis and Bruce – not to mention winemaker Julianne Laks. Their main tasting room in Rutherford is home to not only delicious wines made from their vineyards in Anderson and Napa Valleys, but also an ongoing culinary program. Their schedule of interactive cooking classes and seminars shows that Cakebread Cellars is no stranger to the art of food and wine pairing! More seafood will follow – Seared Diver Scallops with a Reserve Chardonnay from Carneros, then Pancetta cured grilled Swordfish with ‘Two Creeks’ Pinot Noir.
