Winter 2012 Issue: American Legion Post #60, Kimberly, WI From Post 60# Commander;

From the Auxiliary President -

Dear Post and Auxiliary members,

Hello Ladies,

Here we are preparing for Christmas 2011 and a brand new year - 2012. 2011 has been a very busy year for both the Legion Post and Auxiliary. We have seen changes in the leadership of the Post Color Guard and the loss of many fellow Legion and Auxiliary members, most recently long time member Everett Rooyackkers.

As we plan toward 2012, please consider attending our Christmas Dinner on January 19th. This is the “best dinner deal in town” $5.00 per person! Contact me or Nancy Angell if you plan to attend. If you need transportation for this event please contact me for assistance!

At the beginning of each new month, also remember the casino bus trips sponsored by the Auxiliary.

In March we will again be supporting the county youth government day and we will need volunteers for this event. Scholarships applications are due to the committee on March 15th. Contact Holly Yunk or me if you need a copy of the scholarship application. March 15 is also the day of our Legion Birthday PotLuck birthday celebration. During this event we will where we will honor our 50/60 year members. Please put this on your calendar.

Something new! Thanks to Retta Witter for helping get Facebook page started. I will be working on that this over the Holidays. (Work has been interfering in being able to finalize this)

2011 is almost at end. We have no snow as I am writing this newsletter. I hope this will be a mild winter. It seems that once we have Thanksgiving, Christmas is almost here and than it is 2012! We need to work together to reach all of our members for their renewals for 2012 as the Membership Year is here. Last year our Unit was 100% at this time. Please help us reach our goal. We need to reach those last 37 members to make the 204 we had last year. So you are aware, we lost 7 members so far this year. The first Thursday of each month we have the Chip In Casino trips. Please help support this important fundraising effort for our unit. Marj will continue to keep us informed as to special trips and casino events. December 15 is the date of our next Unit Meeting. We have no Lunch Chairman or Bingo Caller, nether are there any for the months of January, February or March!! I have scheduled an Executive Meeting for January 4th at 9:30a.m.at the Community Complex. Our Legion/Auxiliary Christmas Dinner will again be catered by Mohnan’s Catering Service. The Social Hour is at 5:30p.m.and Dinner at 6:00p.m. The Auxiliary will be providing the desserts and coffee. The cost of this dinner is $5.00/per person. The Auxiliary and Post are covering the cost difference as we want to make it affordable to ALL members. Please contact Nancy Angell at 766- 5586 to sign up so we can get an accurate count of participants. Sooner is better. I will be gone from January 20th thru March 12th. Sue Siebers, 1st Vice President will be doing the February Auxiliary Meeting. The next County Council Meeting is scheduled for March 20th at Black Creek. Please sign up to go at this meeting as they need our number attending at least 2-3 weeks before the Council Meeting.

I can not find the words to tell you all of how proud I am to be serving as commander and how grateful I am that you have placed your confidence in me to lead this Post. “Thank you” to all volunteers of the Legion and Auxiliary. You make things happen!

County Government Youth Day at the Outagamie County Court House is February 16th at 8:00 a.m. I hope some of you ladies can come and help out.

Christmas Blessings to all and Happy New Year!

Your President,

Best Regards,

Bruce M. Siebers Post #60 Commander 2011 –2012

Thank You All for 2011.
