Bra-loween Fundraiser: Fun and Fruitful
Volunteer Spotlight: Candy Weaver
Candy has been volunteering with Breast Intentions since the beginning, and always makes new volunteers feel welcome and appreciated. She loves the passion that the group has for the ladies, especially showing them respect, interacting with them in a fun atmosphere, and watching the smiles and occasional ‘happy dances.’
What a great evening we had, with over 80 supporters, a moving program, the premier of our new video, as well as fantastic food and drinks. Breast Intentions is so grateful for all of the generous donations and work in making this our most successful fundraiser to date!
Karen’s House
On September 14, Breast Intentions served the women of Karen’s House, an in-patient drug and alcohol addiction center, part of Spokane Treatment and Recovery Services. Although it was tight quarters, 24 women received two bras each, stood taller, and learned to care for their new undergarments!
“The ladies often arrive quiet and with their shoulders slumped, but when they leave, everything is different - their shoulders are back and their faces are more confident.” Candy loves spending time with her four grandkids and sharing their interests with them. She also enjoys walking and being with friends.

The Jonah Project Event
The evening of October 4, we had a very successful fitting event for an important local organization. The Jonah Project aims to end sex slavery in the Spokane community by creating an avenue for victims of trafficking to reach out for help and receive compassionate, transparent aftercare. Thirty-seven women were professionally fitted and received two bras each, along with care instructions and a wash bag. We also shot our new video on location!
Board Member Spotlight:
Danielle Buller
Danielle loves the challenge of perfecting the tools that Breast Intentions uses to fulfill our mission, and she has driven the implementation of our inventory management system and other processes to make us more effective. Her drive is very personal. “I remember talking to one of the gals we had just fit with a new bra and her saying, ‘You know, I used to be the one that helped people, and now I’m the one that needs help. I am so grateful for this service.’ That was such a powerful statement, and it has really stuck with me these past years.” Danielle loves to cook, play soccer, and spend time with her family. We appreciate her dedication, intellect, dependability and giving heart!
