Wolfville Cubs: weekend camp – March 12 - 14, 2010 – Camp Mockingee Essential information for parents/cubs: • Camp fee is due on Monday March 8: $25/person • Parents are welcome to attend! Please let us know. • Parent volunteers needed (contact Hugh or another leader): • Camp cook • Grocery buyer • Send Rice Krispie squares to camp • Getting to camp: Camp starts Friday at 7pm. Families should get their cub to camp. See directions below. • Pickup from camp: 2 pm Sunday. • Eat dinner before coming on Friday. • Contacts: The camp phone number is 902-798-8430. Hugh's cell is 692-9040, Ian's is 680-2210. Cell phone coverage is not good. • Nut-free camp: one youth in our group has a severe peanut allergy. About Camp Mockingee: Located 14 km south of Martock, the camp is operated by the Windsor Rotary Club. The camp is less rustic than Sunken Lake, with heated buildings (including bunkrooms) and showers. Activities will include: campfires, obstacle course, geocaching, hikes, challenge activities, games and cooking. Directions to camp: See map on back of sheet A) Take Exit 5 B) At the end of the exit road turn toward Windsor (Route 14) C) Travel about 1 kilometre D) Angle right onto Highway 1 toward Windsor (The Irving Station will be on your left.) E) Travel approximately 1.8 kilometres toward Windsor (on combined Highway 1 and Route 14) F) Turn left at Atlantic Radiator (You are continuing on Route 14.) G) Travel west on Route 14 for 18.8 km until you reach the Lakeside Store and Irving Station. (You will pass the Ski Martock sign on your left at about 6.8 kilometres.) H) Continue straight on Route 14 for 3 kilometres (You will see the Camp Mockingee sign on your right.) I) Turn right onto Smeltzer's Road at the Camp Mockingee sign J) Stop at the Stop sign (The paved road ends here.) K) Continue straight, cross the bridge and bear right as you travel up the hill. L) As you crest the hill you will see the lake and some of the camp buildings ahead. M) Turn right into the parking lot (The parking lot is 1 km from Highway 14.) N) Congratulations! You have arrived at Camp Mockingee.
