Word Chapter 5 Skills Check Assessment 1 – Add Visual Appeal to a Report on the Future of the Internet Open Internet2.docx. Save the document with Save As and name it C5 A1. Apply the Heading I style to the title of the report.
Center align the title.
Apply the Heading 3 style to the headings in the report.
You have to click the Heading 2 style to display the Heading 3 style.
Change the Style Set to Shaded and then center the title—if necessary. Apply the Ion theme (or any theme if Ion is unavailable).
Change the theme colors to Green.
Change the left and right margins to 1.25 inches. Select the text from the first paragraph (do not select the title) to the end of the document.
Access the Columns Dialog Box.
Change the document into two columns.
Change the Spacing: (between the columns) to 0.4 inches.
Navigate to the end of the document. (Ctrl+ End)
Insert a continuous section break to balance the columns.

Insert the picture Satellite Graphic.png from your Word Templates folder. o
Change the height to 1.2”.

Change the color of the clip art image to Green, Accent Color 1 Light.

Correct to Brightness: 0% (Normal) Contrast: -20%.

Drag the image so it is positioned at the left margin in the Satellite Internet Connections section as shown in the screen shot on Page 1.
Insert the Simple Quote (NOT Simple text box—scroll down to find it) and make the following customizations: Type the following text:
“A remedy for the traffic clogging the information highway is Internet2.”
Select the text and then change the font size to 12.
Change the line spacing to 1.15.
Horizontally center the text.
Change the Shape Width and Height to 1.5”.
Apply the Subtle Effect – Green, Accent 1 shape style to the text box (Click the More button in the Shape Styles group.)
Apply the Glow—Green, 5 pt. glow, Accent color 1 shape effect to the text box.
Drag the box so it is positioned as shown on the preceding page—Page 1.
Press Ctrl + End to move the insertion point to the end of the document. (The insertion point will be positioned below the continuous section break you inserted on the second page to balance the columns of text.)

Press the Enter key twice and then draw a shape using the Plaque shape (located in the second row in the Basic Shapes section) and make the following customizations:
Apply the Moderate Effect—Green, Accent 1 shape style to the shape.
Position the shape centered between the left and right margins. (This is below the two columns of text.)
Increase the Shape Height and Shape Width to 3”.
Insert (Draw) a text box in the shape. o Type the following text (13 pt.) inside the shape: Felicité Compagnie o Insert the and symbols at the Symbol dialog box with the Wingdings font selected. o Insert the é symbol at the Symbol dialog box with the (normal text) font selected. (It is first on the drop-down list.)
o Insert the current date below Felicité Compagnie o Insert the current time below the date. o Center the text and drag the text box so that all text appears. o Select the text box. (Click on border with a four-headed arrow. The dashed border will change to a solid border.)
Change the Shape Fill to No Fill.
Change the Shape Outline to No Outline.
Turn on automatic hyphenation. (Page Setup Group on the Page Layout Tab) Create a drop cap (Dropped) with the first letter of the word The that begins the first paragraph of text. (Text Group on Insert Tab)
Add a header with your name, filename and date. Save, print, and close the document.

Assessment 2 – Create a Sales Meeting Announcement Open a new, blank document.
Save the document with Save As and name it C5 A2.
Create an announcement about an upcoming sales meeting with the following specifications: Click on Picture in the Illustrations group on the Insert tab.
Insert the picture Ocean.jpg from the Template folder. o Change the Shape Height to 5”. o Insert a text box on the picture and type the following text: National Sales Meeting Northwest Division Ocean View Resort August 20 through August 22, 2012 o Change the Shape Fill to No Fill. o Change the Shape Outline to No Outline. o Select the text and change to 22 pt. white font and center align.
Navigate to the beginning of the document (Ctrl + Home). Insert the company name Inlet Corporation as WordArt text using the Fill - Blue, Accent 1 Shadow
Center align the WordArt text and change to 48 pt.
Drag the picture as shown. Add a header with your name, filename and date. Save, print and close the document.

Assessment 3 – Create an Announcement Open a new, blank document.
Save the document with Save As and name it C5 A3.
Key the title in 28-point Candara bold. Key the remaining text in 14-point Candara. Using the Tabs Dialog Box, set a left tab at 1” and a right tab with dot leaders at 5.5”. Insert the caduceus clip art image from the Template folder as shown with the following specifications:
Change the text wrapping to Tight. Change the clip art image color to Blue, Accent color 1 Dark. Correct the brightness and contrast to Brightness: +20% Contrast: -20%. Size and move the clip art image as shown.
Add Blue, Accent 1, Lighter 60% paragraph shading to both the title and ending paragraph. Horizontally center the ending (shaded) paragraph as shown. Vertically center align the document. (Layout tab in Page Setup Dialog Box) Apply a Blue page border (Blue, Accent 1) as shown (thin/thick/thin).

Assessment 4 – Insert Screenshots in a Memo Open FirstAidMemo.docx.
Save the document with Save As and name it C5 A4.
Insert screenshots so your document appears as shown below.
Use the FirstAidAnnounce.docx document located in your Template folder to create the first screenshot. o
Open it in Print Preview.

Click on C5 A4 on the Windows taskbar to maximize it, and click on the Insert Tab.
o
Click on the Screenshot button.
o
Click on the Screen Clipping.
o
Select FirstAidAnnounce.docx and position the mouse crosshairs in the upper left corner of the page, hold down the left mouse button, drag down to the lower right corner of the page, and then release the mouse button. The image should be inserted in C5 A4.
Follow the same instructions to insert a screen clipping using the document C5A3.docx you created in Assessment 3 for the second screenshot. Resize the screen shots and move (you will need to apply text wrapping) to arrange as shown below.
Add a header with your name, filename and date. Save, print, and close the document.
