We are pleased to invite your fencers to participate in this year’s Y-Sparks International Fencing Cup, with details as follows:

International Fencing Cup 2016 Date: Sat 17 Dec & Sun 18 Dec 2016 Time: 8:00am – 9.00pm Venue: Marina Bay Sands, Exhibition Hall D Fees: S$50 per participant per event All registrations are to be completed at our online portal www.ysparksfencing.com All Indemnity Forms are to be emailed to us at [email protected] shortly upon registration

All registrations must be received by 3 December 2016. Payment can be made in cash in SGD on 16 December 2016 from 1800hrs to 2000hrs or on the competition days from 0800hrs to 1400hrs, not later than 1 hour before the start of the event.

Participant Eligibility Each school/club may enter as many fencers for each age group individual event as they wish, provided that the fencers meet the age requirements. Please ensure that participants have a copy of their passports for age verification purposes. The age qualification criteria are as follows: U8 event - Participants born in 2008 or later U10 event - Participants born in 2006 or later U13 event - Participants born in 2003 or later U15 event - Participants born in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

Competition Format The following formats will be used for the various age groups:

Direct Elimination 8 pts / 2 periods of 2 mins / 1 min break btwn periods 8 pts / 2 periods of 2 mins / 1 min break btwn periods 12 pts / 2 periods of 3 mins / 1 min break btwn periods / 1 min break at 6 pts for sabre 15 pts / 3 periods of 3 mins / 1 min break btwn periods

Roll Call - Fencers must be present in person, suited up and ready to fence during roll call. The poules will be announced and referees will accompany their fencers to their respective pistes to start the round-robin bouts. Call Area - For the Direct Elimination round, fencers must report to the piste 10 minutes before the scheduled time of their bout. A fencer risks a walkover if not present 10 minutes after the scheduled time. Weapons Check - Weight checks, 500g for foil and 750g for epee, will be done on the piste during the poules and direct elimination rounds. Please check your own equipment before the start of your event at the venue to ensure it is in working condition.

Acceptable Competition Attire and Equipment It is compulsory for all competitors to wear minimum 350N plastrons, minimum 350N fencing suits, minimum 350N masks and long socks (that cover to above the knees). It is also compulsory for girls to wear chest protectors. All Foil fencers are required to wear a Mask with a conductive bib. Any replacement bib must come from the same manufacturer. All masks must also have functioning elastic straps. Leon Paul masks require the additional security strap. All Sabre fencers are required to wear sabre glove or sabre cuff. Competitors found wearing attire not conforming to the above will not be allowed to fence. Competitors are also reminded to bring a spare weapon and a spare body wire to be put at the side of the piste during their bouts. For U8 and U10 events, only size 3 blades and shorter are allowed.

Closing date for Registrations The registrations must reach us no later than 2359 hours Singapore time on 3 December 2016. Entries received after the above date and time are considered late and will be subject to the following additional charges: • Received by 2359 hours on 10 Dec 2016 - S$10 / participant / event extra • Received by 2359 hours on 16 Dec 2016 - S$20 / participant / event extra

Registration Please note that it is compulsory for the team manager or a representative from each participating club and individual fencers to report at the venue on 16 December 2016 (between 1800 hrs and 2000 hrs) or on the competition days (between 0800hrs and 1400hrs) to do the following: • Make payment in cash for all entries • Produce copies of documents such as passport / IC to verify age

Weapons Check Only foil and sabre fencers are required to perform a single check before competing. Only lame (foil and sabre), mask (foil and sabre) and glove / cuff (sabre only) are to be checked and marked no later than one hour before the start of every foil / sabre event.

Reporting All participants are to report to the Directoire de Technique (DT) one hour before but no later than 30 minutes before the start of their events to mark attendance.

Competition methods The fencing competition shall be conducted in accordance with the current Statues and Rules of the FIE. In case of disagreement in interpretation of the Rules, the latest English version shall prevail. The Directoire de Technique (DT) shall deal with any unforeseen incidents not covered by the Rules.

Competition management • Referees The Organizer shall provide referees for this competition. Should your club have officials who are able to perform referee duties, kindly make this known to the organizer. • Directoire de Technique (DT) The DT shall be responsible for the technical organisation of the competition. All decisions made by the DT shall be final. • Protests Appeals against decisions of a referee should be made immediately by the competitors or their team captains to the referee, before any decision is made regarding a subsequent hit. If the referee should maintain his decision, the complaint should be brought to the attention of the DT.

Prizes & Certificates Trophies and other prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and joint 3rd places in each event (U8, U10, U13 and U15).

Prize Winner’s Attire During Prize Presentation, prize winners must be properly attired – e.g. in Breeches, Long Socks, Fencing Shoes, and with a dry, presentable Shirt or Track-top.

Competition Gift Bag All participants who have registered and paid up fully will each receive a gift bag with goodies from our sponsors. Gift bag is subject to availability for late registrations received later than 2359 hours Singapore time, 3 December 2016.

THINGS TO NOTE Meals are not included in competition entry fees – you can choose to eat at a variety of places within walking distance from the competition venue. Transport is not included in competition entry fees – the competition venue is easily accessible by public transport (Bayfront MRT). It is also located about 20 km away from the airport.
