YMCA Training, Inc. AMERICORPS NEW AMERICAN INTEGRATION PROGRAM The NEW AMERICAN INTEGRATION PROGRAM (NAIP) is an AmeriCorps program administered by the MIRA Coalition, in partnership with English for New Bostonians. Up to 30 NAIP members will be placed at various community-based organizations across Massachusetts to address barriers to economic empowerment among immigrants and refugees by focusing their service on job readiness training (including ESOL instruction) and/or citizenship services (including application assistance and civics instruction). Additional add-on services include volunteer coordinator and community service support. ABOUT : For 35 years, the Training, Inc. program has provided over 5,000 low income persons with professional skills training and employment assistance in our 5-month, full-time (600 hour) program. Working with industry leaders across multiple sectors (health care, insurance, banking, government, non-profits, and business), Training, Inc. provides skills training to prepare our participants for office support/customer service jobs in these industries. Strong job search preparation and support by staff and volunteers enable our graduates to compete successfully in the job market. Over 95% of our participants successfully complete the program, and over 80% of our graduates gain employment in new careers. SERVICE POSITION TITLE: Job Search Coach SERVICE DESCRIPTION: The Job Search Coach will work individually with job seekers to identify job openings, apply online, and create customized cover letters and resumes. S/he will help job seekers practice interviewing for specific openings. The Job Search Coach will also instruct groups in various aspects of the job search, and assist with resume editing, interview support, and creating Linked In profiles.
SERVICE LOCATION: Boston SERVICE SCHEDULE: Mon – Fri 9-5 Members commit to full-time service from March 6, 2018 through August 31, 2018. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with individual program graduates to apply for job openings Coach job seekers on cover letters, interview preparation, etc Identify appropriate job openings Teach some of the Career Management (job search preparation) classes
MARGINAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support other Training, Inc. Instructors as needed Assist in organizing job search related volunteer events
QUALIFICATIONS
MS Office computer literate Able to communicate with people from diverse income and socio-economic backgrounds with respect and caring Excellent organizational and communication skills Interest in and commitment to national and community service Experience working with diverse populations High school diploma or GED equivalent 17 years of age or older Must be a US Citizen, US National or Legal Permanent Resident Must be willing to undergo a National Service Criminal History Check, including screenings through the National Sex Offender Public Website, a name-based search of the statewide criminal history registry both in Massachusetts and your state of residence upon application to our program, and a fingerprint-based FBI check
