Youth-to-Youth Community Mentorship and Professional Development Program The World Bank Group’s Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) Community is a network of young staff aiming to channel fresh ideas and perspectives into Bank operations and to engage, inspire, and empower youth around the world. The Y2Y Mentorship Program is designed to help young people thrive and reach their full potential at the Bank through positive, collaborative relationships. Experienced senior staff offer guidance and support to foster their mentees’ professional development. Mentee Eligibility Young professionals employed by the WBG until end FY14, regardless of contract type: staff, JPA, JPO, ETT/ETC, STT/STC. • Members of the Y2Y Community. •

Mentor Corps • Generally senior-level staff (GG and above) with experience across different sectors and regions. • In FY13, 64 mentors participated in the program, both at HQ and in COs. Program Components • One-on-one in-person or virtual meetings between mentor-mentee pairs: participants jointly define a professional development strategy at the beginning of the program, and track progress towards the determined goals over the course of the year. • Professional development workshops offering skill-building, career guidance, leadership, and more, featuring program mentors and other experts. Program Cycle • Recruitment (September): interested mentors and mentees register for the FY14 program, and mentors provide a biography to be shared with mentees. • Matching (late September): mentees submit 3 requests who work in a different VPU; mentors and mentees are paired based on preference and order of response. • Launch (early October): meet-and-greet reception for mentors and mentees. • Professional Development Workshops (ongoing, October - June) offering skill-building, career guidance, leadership, and more, featuring program mentors and other experts. • Check-in (mid-January): midpoint surveys sent to participants; adjustments made as necessary. • Closing (late June): end-of-year reception for mentors and mentees; final surveys sent.
