Information Note for International participants 2nd distribution 18 August 2017

1. Things to be done before you take off 1) Registration form Suwon City Government (Ms. KIM Yu-hui | [email protected]) is waiting for your itinerary to propose you the e-ticket or related documents for reimbursement. For those of you who have not arranged the air flight for visiting Suwon, please be in hurry since securing the seats for your returning flight would be more and more difficult due to the Korea’s longest holidays beginning from the end of the week of our Forum. All the processes are supposed to be finalized by 23 August 2017.

2) Profile & Summary of presentations and discussion The Speakers’ profile photo, short bio, and the summary of presentation and discussion will be printed in the program book. So please make sure that all your information has been sent to ICLEI Korea Office (KANG Jeongmuk | [email protected]) by 31 August 2017. All the materials will be collected and distributed to all the speakers, panels and the moderators of each session so that everyone in the session can be fully aware of what will be discussed in each session.

3) Final version of presentation For more accurate and smoother simultaneous interpretation, we are asking you to share the version of your presentation by 15 September 2017. The materials will be provided to interpreters for their preparation on technical terms and concept. Of course, you can bring ultimate final version of your presentation and replace the previous one on the very day of forum.

4) Dietary Restriction & Field trip on 26 September To avoid any inconvenience during your stay in Suwon, please send the enclosed document to Suwon City Government (Ms. KIM Yu-hui | [email protected]) notifying your dietary restriction and intention to join the field trip on 26 September in the afternoon by 15 September 2017.

2. Practical Information 1) From Incheon International Airport to Novotel Suwon Suwon City will detach a staff to help the foreign participants get on the Airport Limousine. So please make sure that your flight schedule is properly and accurately informed to Suwon City. In case you miss our staff at the airport, you can take Airport Limousine (No. 4001) at bus platform 7A on the 1st floor of Incheon Airport Terminal and get off at Novotel Ambassador Suwon. It will take 60 to 80 minutes and cost around 13,000 KRW (approx. 12 USD). When you check in, you should tell you are the participants of 2017 Suwon Forum on Asian Human City to the hotel front. 2) Shuttle Services Suwon city will be providing shuttle services between Novotel and the event venue (Deoham Complex). The schedule of shuttle service will be available at the hotel.

Special Session. Experts Seminar on Urban Sustainability Index Moderator: Dr. LEE Jae-eun, President, Suwon Research Institute This is a special session taking place in parallel with session 3 of 2017 Suwon Forum on Asian Human City. The aim of the session is to gather and share the experiences of experts and local actors from Asian countries on the indicators for sustainability and get fruitful insights on how to further develop Suwon urban sustainability indicator in sustainable manner. 4. Information of the Field Trip on 26 September

<14:00~17:00>

Hosted and organized by Suwon City, all the foreign participants are invited to join the field trip through which you can witness the legacy of 2013 EcoMobility Festival Suwon and enjoy the best known tourist attractions in Suwon.

1) Visiting EcoMobility village and Hwaseong Fortress EcoMobility World Festival 2013 was the world’s first month-long presentation of an innovative and forward thinking urban transportation culture. Instead of using private automobiles, 4,343 residents in Suwon City used a combination of walking, cycling, public transport and various other ecomobile modes for the entire month of September 2013. After the festival Suwon City has designated the festival area and EcoMobility Village and promoting related projects related to inclusive human city where citizen and nonmotorized vehicles have the best priority rather than private cars.

2) Hwaseong Fortress Tour Trolley With a design inspired by the royal vehicle used by King Gojong and palanquins of the Joseon Dynasty, Hwaseong Fortress Tourist Trolley gives passengers a comfortable tour around the main attractions of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, including Yeonmudae Post, Hwahongmun Gate, Hwaseomun Gate, Paldalsan Mountain, Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, Paldalmun Gate, Suwon Hwaseong Museum, and more. Formerly known as Hwaseong Train, the vehicle went through a transformation and changed its name to Hwaseong Fortress Tourist Trolley. 3) Flying Suwon The large helium-filled balloon does not stray too far as it is operated from a fixed location. Due to the nature of helium, it is light and safe. Its 32m high and 22m wide and can accommodate a maximum of 20 people and move up to 70m~150m. Due to the security reason, experiencing Flying Suwon can be canceled according to the weather condition on 26 September.
