Best Community for Music Education for a 6th • Year in a Row OHS senior Benjamin one of 107 finalists in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s INSPIRE competition for high school research projects in the humanities, arts and social sciences. Girls Basketball Team State & Federation Champions AMD students participated in the Lower Hudson Valley's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Festival, or STEMfest, at Southern Westchester BOCES. OHS teacher Adam Schoenbart was selected by The National School Boards Association's Technology Leadership Network as one of its • “20 to Watch” honorees for 2015-2016. Larry McRae was named League Wrestling Coach of the Year. OHS Mock Trial Team made it through the Quarter Finals of the Westchester County Mock Trial Competition. They now head into the Semi-Finals for Westchester County.
Fifty OHS students competed in the Westchester Science & Engineering Fair and received a total of 48 awards – seven for first place, nine for second place, six for third place, 11 for fourth place and 15 special awards. Five (5) Winter Scholar Athlete Teams Eight (8) Intel Semi-Finalists Alec DeCaprio placed fifth in the State Diving Championship. OHS O-Bots competed in the FIRST Robotics competition at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in NYC. Continued commitment to advocate for Foundation Aid increase based on the formula. Superintendent’s Proposed Tax Levy is under the Cap. Use of deferred 2015-16 Building Aid to reduce use of Fund Balance approximately $736,000. Use of reserves/fund balance will decrease based on 2016-17 State Aid projections in the NYS April 1st budget. Strategic increase of Transfer to Capital budget line to maintain infrastructure not addressed in the 2012 $41.5M Capital Bond Reduction in Debt Service payments.
