Regulators Help Make Michigan Energy Efficiency Ready The Michigan Energy Efficiency Contractors Association (MEECA) applauds the efforts of the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) and the Michigan Energy Office (MEO) with the release of the final report on energy efficiency. The conclusion from this report: Michigan is energy efficiency ready and ready to expand its energy efficiency industry. After a year full of public forums, two rounds of public comments and issuing a draft report, the MPSC and MEO have set the stage for continued meaningful discussions on what Michigan’s future energy policies might be. “All of us at MEECA are looking forward to continued participation in these discussions,” said Brad Bartholomew, current president of MEECA. Bartholomew further adds, “Never before have I seen as much effort put forth to detail Michigan’s energy efficiency potential as the MPSC has done in this report.” Data included in the final report show, “(T)hat significant cost effective electric and natural gas energy efficiency potential remains in Michigan.” This bodes well for Michigan-‐based companies that have invested into the energy efficiency industry and helps secure predictability in the market. Totaling 389-‐pages, the final report on energy efficiency will be a resource for Governor Snyder to utilize as he moves to make recommendations to the legislature about the future of Michigan’s utility-‐based energy efficiency programs. The full report can be downloaded at www.Michigan.gov/Energy. ###
