This award recognizes an educator who has demonstrated significant positive impact within a school or district’s AP program. “While I am honored by the personal recognition, it is the culture of the school and the dedication of all faculty and staff that enabled me to receive this award,” said Ferguson. “I am extremely proud of Ms. Ferguson and the devotion she has to her students and her craft. She embodies what it means to be an educator, and she helps set the standard for the caliber of teachers at our school,” said Justin Hunt, Harding principal. Ms. Ferguson has been with Harding, where she also serves as the English department chair, for almost eleven years. Over the course of her career, she has also taught college composition, Spanish, and English as a Second Language and has edited several textbooks. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, California, and a Master’s degree in English from the University of Oklahoma. Ms. Ferguson will receive a plaque on February 27 during the College Board’s Southwestern Regional Forum in Dallas, Texas. The College Board’s southwestern region comprises Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arkansas. ###
