CITY OF OJAI RESOLUTION NO. 16-55 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OJAI RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2016 DECLARING THE PERSONS ELECTED AS MAYOR, CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, CITY CLERK AND CITY TREASURER OF THE CITY OF OJAI WHEREAS, a duly noticed General Municipal Election was held in the City of Ojai on November 8, 2016 for the purpose of voting for candidates for one (1) full-term (two years) office of Mayor; for one (1) full-term office of Council Member, one (1) fullterm office of City Clerk and (1) one full-term office of City Treasurer for the City of Ojai; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No.16-44 the City Council requested the Board of Supervisors of the County of Ventura to consolidate the General Municipal Election with the General Election to be held on the same date pursuant to §10403 of the Elections Code; and WHEREAS, for a consolidated election, the City Clerk, upon receipt of the results of the election from the County of Ventura Elections Official conducting the election, shall certify the results to the governing body; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk finds that the number of votes cast in the City of Ojai at the General Municipal Election is listed on Attachment A WHEREAS, the City Clerk finds that the names of the persons voted for and the number of votes given said persons in the General Municipal Election at each precinct and by absentee ballot as candidates for the offices of Mayor, Council Member, City Clerk and City Treasurer for the City of Ojai and the total votes cast for each candidate, are set forth in the computer printout from the Ventura County Election Department, attached hereto as "Exhibit A" and incorporated herein by reference. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OJAI, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The following candidate for the office of Mayor of the City of Ojai received the highest number of votes and is therefore declared to be the Mayor duly elected to serve on the Ojai City Council until December 2018 John F. Johnston SECTION 2. The following candidate for the office of Member of the City Council received the highest number of votes and is therefore declared to be a Council Member duly elected to serve on the Ojai City Council until December 2020. SECTION 3. The following candidate for the office of City Clerk of the City of Ojai received the highest number of votes and is therefore declared to be the City Clerk duly elected to serve the City of Ojai until December 2020. Cynthia A. Burell SECTION 4. The following candidate for the office of City Treasurer of the City of Ojai received the highest number of votes and is therefore declared to be the City Treasurer duly elected to serve the City of Ojai until December 2020. Alan Rains SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council a statement of the results of the election, showing the whole number of votes cast in the City, the names of the persons voted for, the offices each person ran for, the number of votes given at each precinct and by absentee voters to each person, and the total number of votes given each person. SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each person so elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk and authenticated; and the City Clerk shall administer to each person elected the Oath of Office prescribed in the Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe to it and file it in the office of the City Clerk. Each and all of the persons so elected shall then be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
