San   Diego,   CA—   San   Diego   and   Tijuana   will   be   present   at   the   World   Economic   Forum’s  2014   Annual   Curators  Meeting  of  the  Global  Shapers  Community  that  will  be  held  in  Geneva,  Switzerland,  from  the   21st  to  the  25th  of  August.       The   Global   Shapers   Community   brings   together   Curators   from   across   the   globe   to   energize   and   strengthen   the   World   Economic   Forum   community.   The   program   focuses   on   the   vision,   values   and   culture  of  the  Global  Shapers  Community,  aiming  to  ensure  the  success  and  sustainability  of  each  HUB   and  of  the  greater  network.         In  early  2014,  Mario  C.  López,  former  director  of  binational  affairs  for  the  City  of  San  Diego  and  current   CEO  of  The  Border  Group  LLC.,  was  invited  to  become  the  Curator  of  the  San  Diego  HUB.  Shortly  after,   Miguel  Marshal,  a  former  employee  of  Endeavour  Mexico  and  Angels  Ventures  Mexico,  was  invited  to   become  the  Curator  of  the  Tijuana  HUB.       “I  am  very  happy  that  the  World  Economic  Forum  has  recognized  the  uniqueness  of  the  San  Diego  and   Tijuana   region   and   invites   us   to   participate   in   the   Global   Shapers   Community.   Hubs   from   all   over   the   globe   are   led   by   young   people   who   are   working   on   social   innovation   projects   to   develop   their   communities.   There   are   currently   more   than   5,000   Shapers   organized   in   300   Hubs   in   over   150   countries   and  about  a  dozen  members  in  the  San  Diego-­‐Tijuana  region”  said  López.     The   Global   Shapers   Community   is   one   of   several   multi-­‐stakeholder   communities   at   the   World   Economic   Forum.   Other   communities   include   the   Young   Global   Leaders,   the   Global   Agenda   Councils,   and   the   Schwab  Foundation  for  Social  Entrepreneurs.     ¨In  recent  years,  the  unique  cross  border  relations  of  the  San  Diego-­‐Tijuana  region  has  received  national   and   international   attention.   Both   cities   have   a   young,   dynamic   entrepreneur   culture   that   can   be   applied   to  social  innovation  projects  and  this  is  what  we  intend  to  do  with  the  local  hubs¨  said  López.
