SYNOPSIS SHORT DESCRIPTOR: The aim of the course is to understand the basic characteristics of international economy, the process of economic globalization and their influence on firms’ behavior. The perspective of the course combines the access to knowledge about the international environment of firms and international markets and the intrinsic elements of firms’ internationalization. It is a course of applied economics that studies economic growth and its main drivers, international inequality and the international relationships –trade, FDI and financial system- to favor a better understanding of the international environment of firms. Previous Requirements Basic knowledge of fundamental economics (micro and macro economics) that correspond to the course of introduction in economics and the basic knowledge of quantitative analytical

instruments. This permits to understand and interpret the basic macro economic indicators, the national accounts, the time evolution of macro magnitudes series and the realization of international comparisons.
OBJETIVES OBJETIVOS (Resultados de Aprendizaje) The course permits the student can make use of the economic concepts and diagnostic methods to analyze the variables and international flows, which permit to develop the students capacity for understanding the international economic context COMPETENCES General CG2 – Capacity of analysis and synthesis CG4 – Capacity of communication and working in a group Cross-sectional CT1 - Capacity in search of empirical information CT4 – Capacity of apply the information CT5 – Using the technologies of information and telecommunications Specific CE3 – Identify the relevant economic information sources CE4 - Derive economic relevant information fro the data CE6 - Prepare consultancy reports about the specific situation of firms and markets CE8 – Understand the fundamental elements of the national and international economic environment of the firm Other: Among the particular competences that will be developed are: Developing of the capacity of critical analysis of reports and scientific articles by oral presentations and group discussion Developing of the capacity of critical use and interpretation of statistical data
LEARNING METHODOLOGY A mixed methodology of teaching and learning will be used in all educational activities with the aim of encouraging students to develop a collaborative and cooperative attitude in the pursuit of knowledge.

After 1,5 month after the beginning of the course, it is understood that the student chosen is to follow the course according to the continuous assessment criteria. CONSIDERATION OF A STUDENT AS PRESENTED OR NON PRESENTED Ordinary call. The presentation or not to the intermediate test will be the definition criteria, so that the student that takes the exam will be considered as presented in the ordinary session and will be evaluated with the grade that applies. The student that does not take the exam and that is not involved in the evaluated activities will be considered as not presented in the June session. Continuous assessment in the extraordinary examination: in case one student has failed the ordinary examination, having attended the final exam and participated in the continuous assessment, the mark to be considered as continuous assessment for that extraordinary examination will be the final mark obtained in the ordinary examination.
