The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a multi-district, grassroots leadership development program of member districts organized into regional divisions throughout the world. It is not an official program of Rotary International and is not under its control. The RLI seeks to have Rotary Clubs in member districts identify those Rotarians who seem to have the POTENTIAL for future club leadership (not necessarily as club presidents) and provide those so identified with a quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills for voluntary organizations. RLI Annual Convention Breakfast Set for June 4, 2014dd The Four Seasons Sydney will be the site of the Annual RLI Convention Breakfast and will run from 0700 to no later than 0900. The Breakfast Flyer has been posted on the home page of the RLI Intl. Web Site at www.rotaryleadershipinstitute.org. RLI International Executive Director Michael Rabasca has negotiated a contract with the hotel that allows us to charge only US$32.00 per person, a bargain for Sydney. Rotarians may register by USA bank check or credit card as noted on the flyer. Principal Speaker will be Past R.I. President Richard D. King. Many Rotarians have already registered. Curriculum Committee Met at Orlando, Florida, USA on January 24-26 31 Rotary Leaders from 11 RLI Divisions and 6 countries had a successful meeting hosted by the RLI Sunshine Division whose Chair is PDG Douglas Maymon. Handling the logistics for the meeting was Brenda Wendt and the Registrar was DGN Deborah Maymon. The committee was divided into various subcommittees, including the Foundation Sessions, Membership Sessions, Graduate Sessions and two sessions to begin to develop Best Practices for running RLI Courses. The results of the meeting and follow ups will be distributed to all 81 RLI Divisions and updated Foundation Sessions will be posted on the RLI materials web site as soon as they are available. Secretary and Editor of the Committee is PDG Bevin Wall of North Carolina. Work will begin in July on the next 3 year segment for RLI courses that will be completelyreviewed for 2015-18. Welcome New Member Districts RLI iis pleased to welcome three additional Districts that have joined the Korea Division: Districts 3620, 3710 and 3720. Those signing the Agreements of Membership included DGE Sun Hyung Cho and DGN Young Dong Yoo, Bo-Gong Kim and Yeong Ho Yun, respectively. Chair of the Division is PRID Kwang Tae Kim and the Vice-Chair is Jungho Cho. RLI is also pleased to welcome three additional Districts that have joined the Sweden Division: Districts 2350, 2370 and 2410. District Governors signing the Agreements of Membership included Staffan Bjorklund, Anna Konig and Eva Bengtson Skogsberg, respectively. District 2410 also includes the country of Latvia. The agreements are the result of RLI-orientations held on the 5th of February in Stockholm (D-2350 and D-2370) and on the 8th of February in Vimmerby, Sweden (D-2410). Both orientations were led by RLI Sweden Division Chair, Larry Servin and RLI Regional Vice-Chair, Nils O. Jensen. Welcome New Members of the RLI Sr. Leaders Advisory Board RLI is honored to welcome three current R.I. Directors to the RLI Intl. Senior Leaders Advisory Board. R.I. Director Takeshi Matsumiya is serving his second year on the Board. He is from Chigasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. R.I. Director P.T. Prabhakar is serving his first year on the Board. He is from Mylapore, Chennai, India. R.I. Director Michael F. Webb is serving his first year on the Board. He is from East Horrington, Somerset, England. RLI French Division Sponsors RLI Workshop at Monaco Zone Institute With VP George Hardy as Moderator and VP Philipe Reynaud participating, an RLI Workshop was featured at the Monaco Zone Institute on November 8, 2013. Present was Rotary International President Ron Burton. The Institute Convener was R.I. Director Jacques di Costanzo who also serves as Chair of the French Division and Assistant Regional Vice-Chair for Western and Central Europe. The workshop was divided into three parts: - Presentation of RLI, Experiences in the Districts and RLI in the 21th Century. Forty Rotarians, including DGs, DGEs, PDGs, special guests and Rotaractors from Zones 11 (France), 12 (Italy), 13B (Spain and Portugal) and District 9010 (North Africa) attended the hour and a half session. Eleven of the 14 Districts of the French Division were represented. It was announced that 936 Rotarians have attended the French Division Sessions. PRID Francisco Creo of Mexico has stepped down as RLI Regional Vice-Chair for Northern Latin America. He will be succeeded by PDG Salvador Rizzo as RVC and PDG Adriana de la Fuentes as Assistant RVC for Training. We thank Past Director Creo for his service as an RVC and for his support in the formation of the Mexico Division. Salwa (Sally) El-Haddad is the new Chair of the Egypt RLI Division. PDG Jose Ramon Echevarria of District 2201 is the new Chair of the Spain RLI Division. PDG Julio Rodolfo Bianchi of District 4250 is the Vice-Chair of the Central America RLI Division. RLI Discussion Group on Rotary.org Open to All Rotarians The Rotary Leadership Institute/RLI Discussion Group on the Rotary web site continues to grow and slowly increase discussions. We hope that more RLI leaders and other Rotarians will join the group and present their ideas and suggestions. We plan to open a discussion on the Curriculum Review for 2015-18.
