Published August, 2010 (Revised May, 2017)
**Important Memo** ALL substitute positions are limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week. This includes ANY combination of work done for NPS (subbing, gate work, coaching, etc….). This is due to the healthcare reform laws.

What is the deadline for payroll? You will be paid for all days worked through the first Friday of each month on the following month’s check. (Example: If you work after the first Friday of the month, that day will be paid on the following month’s payroll.) Pay dates are listed on the Substitute link. *Exception: The March payroll cut-off date is the last Friday of February due to the timing of Spring Break.

Why do I have to list the last four digits of my Social Security number on my pay request? Due to an increasing number of substitutes that share the same name, (in some cases, even the same middle name), this will help payroll to ensure the correct person is paid.
How do I receive my pay for work completed?
The District issues Pay Cards through Central Bank to ensure substitutes are paid in a secure, timely manner. The card is issued when you submit your application paperwork to the Business Office. Your signature is required to pick up the card from the Business Office. Once your application has been approved and you have been added to the substitute list, we will register your card and notify you to register the card on your end. The money is loaded on the card through the District payroll system and then you have the option of taking it to the bank of your choice and having the money moved into your personal account (if their system allows), use it like a regular debit card, or withdraw the money off of it anywhere that Mastercard is accepted. You can also contact the card company’s website for information on direct deposit from the card company (not NPS) into your bank account. The paystub is emailed to your "@nixaschools.net" address. We are very excited about our subs having access to their payroll early on payday rather than having to wait days for the check to come through the mail. You must check your district email regularly and be sure to open your pay stub information within 14 business days from pay day. Save or print your pay stub each month. The district does not have access to your pay stubs once they are emailed because they are password protected. Therefore, it is important for you to obtain these each month from your district email and keep them.
How do I report contact information or availability changes?
It is very important to keep the Business Office updated of any changes to your information. Please report all changes in information ASAP to Allison Ledford, 417-875-5400, ext. 0 or
[email protected] .
What if I have been booked to substitute and then cannot fulfill that commitment?
Please call 417-725-7407 ASAP to report your absence and who you were scheduled to sub for.

Why am I not getting calls to sub?
Please make sure you are calling in your availability each week to 417-724-4048. Please keep in mind this is not a guarantee you will be called. Approximately 70% of sub positions are filled by teacher request to the sub caller. (Please note: Many times multiple names are requested for one job.) Also, the beginning of the school year and Feb. through April are typically slower due to MAP test preparation. Please do not call the Business Office. They only handle the application process and sub list updates. The principal may determine you are not a good fit for their building or lack classroom management skills, which may affect the number of times you are called to sub.
What time of day should I expect to receive phone calls?
The Sub Caller will inform you of an opportunity to sub until 9:30 p.m. the day prior to the requested day if known ahead of time, or by 11 a.m. as staff absences are reported for the day. If you are not able to be reached, a message will not be left due to time restraints to fill a position. Please do not attempt to return a missed call.
