GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY General Faculty Salary Agreement Form for Study Abroad Programs (AY 2017-2018) Faculty participating on study abroad programs are to be compensated by the home department for their teaching activities. The Office of International Programs & Services has no mechanisms for providing salary support, or arranging for compensation on behalf of a participating faculty member. All faculty members are expected to secure the approval of their department chair for study abroad activities, which includes agreement regarding faculty salary. The salary agreement should be briefly detailed below, and, for Georgia Southern operated programs, should be accurately reflected in the program budget sheet submitted to International Programs & Services as part of the program proposal. This form must be submitted to International Programs & Services before any approval of a study abroad program or teaching application is provided. For proposed programs with more than one faculty program director, a separate salary agreement form must be submitted for each individual faculty member. The currently approved salary faculty model is attached on page 2, and its use is encouraged to guide discussion and decision-making regarding compensation when possible.

By signing this form, both faculty program directors and the department chair agree they have engaged in a discussion regarding compensation for the faculty teaching on a study abroad program, and have reached an agreement regarding that compensation.

Summer Study Abroad Salary Model* 72 - 86 student credit hours = 9% pay 57 - 71 student credit hours = 7% pay 42 - 56 student credit hours = 5% pay 27 - 41 student credit hours = 3% pay All study abroad programs and teaching applications must be approved by the Director of International Programs & Services. *This pay provides remuneration for one faculty member. No faculty will be paid more than 9% for study abroad trips in any given year without the permission of the Provost. Faculty offering programs generating more than 86 student credit hours may request additional compensation as deemed appropriate by the Director of International Programs & Services. Departments may use this model for study trips in the United States.
