PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ON TO OTHER RIXON FAMILY MEMBERS ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. St Matthews Church is celebrating 200 years in October. Peter Wright saw the notice on the right in SMH – 12.8.2017. Maybe some Rixon representatives will be able to attend the celebration on 11.10.2017.
The other notice is from an old collection. St Luke’s at Liverpool was where Amelia Goodwin married Robert Burrows 23.12.1816.
Points to ponder – 1. How many “James Rixon” twigs do we have currently? How many “Amelia Rixon” twigs? – Amelia sometimes went as “Rixon” although she and James never married. This picture shows James Rixon [b1937] nursing grandnephew Jimmy Rixon [b 16.3.2017] at the Benjamin Rixon [b1858] family celebration, Easter 2017. 2. How many locations in Australia are named “Rixon…” ?? – eg Rixon Pass and Rixons Pass Road at Woonona, Rixon Road Appin, and this needs to be confirmed “a small beach in Twofold Bay retains the Rixon name, most likely at a place where James [b1806] operated whaling activities.” Others?? 3. How many Olympic or Commonwealth Games Rixon representatives have we had? A Rixon family may be competing at the Commonwealth Games in 2018. Connie-Leigh and her sister Rebecca Rixon – descendants of James [b1806] - are top lawn bowls players in Qld. They are in line for selection with their mother Rose, to play for Malta, the country from which Rose’s parents migrated.
Sadly, we have lost several people this year, but also many twigs have been added. I will outline them more fully later in the year. Thank you for continuing to add to the master file. Unfortunately, contact details have been lost for some attendees at 1998 Gathering. If you could help with new addresses, please contact me. Hope to see you at Windsor. Many thanks Joye
