3 on 3 Basketball Rules of Play 1. The first possession will be determined by Rock-paper-scissors. 2. Games are played to 21 points, however a team must win by 2 points. 3. Teams score by making two-point shots inside the 3 point line or three-point shots taken from outside the three-point line. 4. When a team scores a point, the opposing team will put the ball into play from the mid court line. 5. On defensive rebounds or steals, players must return the ball by dribble or pass across the three point line before a basket may be attempted. Once across the line, they do not have to pass the ball before shooting. 6. Any player may convert a rebound. 7. If the ball is knocked out of bounds, the opposing team will throw the ball in from the sideline at the point where it went out of bounds. 8. Once you have stopped dribbling you must pass the ball to another player or attempt a basket. 9. All fouls (travelling, charging, personal, etc.) result in a loss of possession. 10.
Everyone is a referee so fouls can be called by any participating player.
11.
Offensive players may not hold on to the ball for more than 3 seconds,
unless they are dribbling. 12.
If the game ends in a tie after regulation time there will be a two minute
overtime period. Possession will be determined by RPS. Ties at the end of any overtime period will result in successive one minute periods until the tie has been broken, with possession alternating each overtime period. 13.
Everyone is a referee in the game
14.
When applicable NCAA rules will apply.

Dribble close to your body- better control and easier to protect the ball from opponents Passes: 1. Overhead- most often used when someone is closely guarding you 2. Chest- quick and efficient. Most often used pass in basketball 3. Bounce – great for getting around defenders Shooting: 1. Dominant foot slightly forward 2. Dominant hand under ball 3.
