Some important stuff to know! This retreat is for Jr. and Sr. High age youth groups & will give them an opportunity to grow in their awareness of the hunger and poverty that one billion children experience in God’s world. The 30 hour famine includes fasting from food for 30 hours, participating in thought provoking sessions that remind us that God calls us to share our resources and pray for all God’s children. All participants should begin fasting at 1:00 p.m. Friday of the retreat. Juice & water will be provided at regular intervals during the fast. Everyone is required to drink plenty of liquids. Saturday evening will be a big one! - We will end our fasting with Holy Communion, then a wonderful big Lakeshore meal. After a scrumptious meal (it will taste oh, so good!) get ready to have some fun. We will have a great “All Camp Activity” that will be sure to please and will acknowledge all money raised for World Vision during this activity.

Attention Leaders & Adult Counselors! Please remember you are responsible for your youth during the retreat. This is a great opportunity to build strong and lasting relationships with them so plan to participate with them during the retreat, not only during session time but free time as well. Very important - all parents need to understand that youth will be fasting during this retreat and will not be served a meal until Saturday night. For your records, have a signed parental permission slip and medical form for each student.

However, at a minimum, each group needs to bring one counselor* for up to 6 youth of the same gender. Example: 3 males and 10 females requires 1 male counselor and 2 female counselors. *Counselors should be at least 4 years older than the oldest youth they will supervise. **If your group is unable to find counselor(s), pay the registration fee for the number you need and Lakeshore will recruit them for you. Register for Lakeshore’s Conference Youth 30-hour Famine. Go to www.30hourfamine.org - Register & get information on how to fight world hunger & raise money for World Vision.** Raise money for World Vision. (Amount raised will be reported during a celebration time at the 30 hour famine.) Begin fasting at 1:00pm on Friday (Juice and water provided during fast and all participants are required to drink plenty of liquids.) We will break the fast together at 6:00 pm on Saturday evening. Have a fun, crazy, world changing time at Lakeshore's 30 hour Famine. Go out & change the world! **Raising money for World Vision is not mandatory in order to attend the Conference sponsored 30 hour famine retreat, however, participating in the fast is only half the experience. Taking action and raising money for World Vision will help the hungry and help youth realize the difference they can make in a needy world.
