Purpose: The purpose of this guideline is to establish a definition to commonly used phrases, terms and descriptions, thereby having consistent definitions throughout all Environmental Health Policies. These phrases, terms and descriptions take precedence over any other definition used throughout the following Appalachian District Health Department Environmental Health Policies. Policy: The following phrases, terms, and descriptions shall take precedence over any other definitions used throughout the Appalachian District Health Department’s Environmental Health Policy Manual. Procedure: The following definitions shall be used throughout the Environmental Health Policy Manual. Definitions: 1. Environmental Health Section or EH: means the Environmetnal Health Section of the Appalachian District Health Department. 2.

Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS): means an authorized agent of the Health Department and Environmental Health Section (Registered by the state of North Carolina as a Registered Sanitarian).

3. Health Department: means the Appalachian District Health Department. 4. Health Director: means the Appalachian District Health Department Health Director or an authorized agent/representative of the Health Director.
