Required Classes English 7: This course is an overview of language, literature, oral work, reading, and writing. English AC: This project-based class requires above grade-level reading, writing, and thinking skills. Prior approval is required based on district testing. th
Intermediate Math I: For all 7 grade students not on the accelerated or remediation path. These students will meet every other day. Intermediate Math I/Intermediate th Math I Lab: Any 7 graders in need of remediation will be in the regular Intermediate Math I class but will also meet in a lab on the other day. Any th student with a 1 or 2 on their 5 grade CRT math score will be placed in this daily class. Students with higher CRT scores will be placed based on the current teacher’s recommendation. Intermediate Math I AC: This class is for accelerated students. These students must pass a basic skills test and the Orleans Hanna test. College/Career Awareness: Careers Technology Education Introduction is course that allows students to be involved in activity-centered lessons that explore careers, utilize technology, and develop beginning skills in the applied technology areas of agriculture, business, family and consumer sciences, health science, information technology, marketing, economics, and technology education are explored. Utah History: This course is designed to help students understand the state of Utah at a deeper level by reviewing Utah’s early history and particularly emphasizing Utah from statehood to the present. Students will understand the interaction between Utah’s geography and its inhabitants, as well as the formative contributions of Native American Indians, explorers and Utah pioneers.
Utah History AC: This project-oriented class offers an advanced level of Utah History. The enriched curriculum will emphasize inquire, research, creativity, and higher level thinking skills. Prior approval is required based on district testing. Integrated Science 7: This class focuses on the theme of structure. Hands-on inquiry-based instruction in physical, earth, and life science are integrated in the study of matter, earth structure, cells, heredity, and classification is used to help stuents . th

7 & 8 Grade PE: Skills and techniques in a variety of team and individual sports are taught. Running and exercise skills are taught to improve physical fitness. Health: This class is designed to inform the students about themselves and their surroundings. It covers hygiene, first aid, substance abuse, fitness and nutrition and other related areas.
Elective Classes: Art Foundations 1: Introduction to visual arts through projects that explore the elements of art and principles of design, hart history, art aesthetics and art criticism. ($6.00 materials fee) Intro to Ceramics: Develops basic skills in the creation of 3D forms and pottery from clays. With an emphasis on studio production, this course is designed to develop higher-level thinking, and artrelated technology skill. ($6.00 materials fee)
Intro to Drawing: teaches basic drawing concepts using lines, cartooning and comics with all types of media. 3D Design/Crafts: Exploration of 3D art through the folk arts, which include mask making, weaving, stained glass, puppetry and string art. ($15.00 materials fee)
Junior Choir: An introduction course to proper vocal technique, performing, music history, and reading music. Students will be exposed to composing and arranging, movement through music, and various musical styles. Choice of one semester or year-long course.($5.00 materials fee) Keyboarding: Students will master touch operation on a computer keyboard. They will be taught correct fingering and good techniques with emphasis on speed and accuracy. Basic word processing functions will be taught. ($5.00 materials fee) Reading Skills: Students will be learning and practicing a variety of reading strategies to use before, during, and after reading. This class is designed so that the readers of all levels can learn practical strategies, improve individual reading skill, and become even better independent readers and learners. ($5.00 materials fee) Band-Beginning: Students will learn to perform on a wind instrument of their choosing. Students will learn to read music with an emphasis on good tone quality and intonation, as well as rhythmic accuracy. ($10.00 materials fee) Orchestra-Beginning: Designed for students who have had little or no previous experience playing violin, viola, cello, or string bass, but would like to learn. Spanish 1/French 1: In Level 1, students begin to communicate sufficiently to satisfy basic survival needs and courtesy requirements. They can ask and answer some simple questions, respond to and initiate simple statements and maintain basic conversation. Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics in the present tense. ($15.00 materials fee)
