Advanced Placement Computer Science A – 2016 To be a student in the APCS A course you must have completed Algebra 2 or Unified 9. Mastery in APCS is the ability to successfully demonstrate on programs, tests, quizzes, and projects the objectives as presented by the College Board. These objectives will be distributed in class. Your grade will be derived from a total point system. At least 75% of the grade will be derived from your demonstration of mastery. No more that 25% of your grade will be earned from non-mastery activities. A breakdown of how your grade will be determined is as follows: Nine weeks grades Tests 100 points each Programs 25 - 100 points each Quizzes 10-50 points each Projects 50-100 points each Cheating You are responsible for creating your own programs! Any program which has duplicate ownership/authorship will have the grade divided equally. Therefore it will be to your advantage not to copy or aid in the copying process. All programs will be completed in class. No programming assignment is to be done outside of class, as time will be allotted during class to complete each program. Cheating on a test or quiz is a disciplinary problem and will be handled based on the Academic Integrity Policy. The use of cell is considered cheating should a cell phone be seen or heard during a test or quiz. Zeros Assignments and tests that are not submitted within the time frame determined by the teacher are assigned a grade of 0. Programs that are never submitted will be assigned a grade of zero. Programs which are late will received a reduced grade as determined by the teacher. Students will be given ample time to complete all programs so everyone should have at least a partial program to submit. Make-up work Missed quizzes will not be made up. They will not count against you but will reduce your total number of points possible. Missed tests will be made up after school within one week at a time agreed upon by you and the teacher. If you have a “planned absence” (field trip, college day, etc) you must assume responsibility for the activities missed and be prepared for tests, quizzes, homework grade(s), etc, given the day you return. I will allow a recovery period for illness. Field trips are optional, if you go you must act responsibly. All make up work, assignments, daily completed notes and classroom videos will be posted on edvanced 360 which can be accessed at https://edvance360.com/k12konline/ These will also be posted on my website at https://sites.google.com/a/k12k.com/dobyns-bennett-jeremyepling/home/precalculus
